rowan and randolph cos

    why are they playing each other they are the 2 highest seeded teams left in erea III and mooreville and high point are the 2 lowest seeded teams left

    tuesday's game 7-14-09

    Heard on the Cherryville broadcast that Rowan was leading Randolph 8-2. Did not hear the inning.

    Because they are just following the brackets as they were set before round two started. If West Forsyth had beat High Point then Rowan and Randolph would still be playing each other. It was designed to be #1 from the south (Rowan) play #2 from the North (Asheboro). High Point just happens to be playing really well and knocked off West.

    any other word on Mooresville- High Point Game one? sounds like a great one. I'm hoping to get to Thomasville tomorrow night for game two

    just heard that High Point won 14-13 in twelve innings.

    Cell phone was breaking up so I didn't get any details other than Ethan Ogburn closed out the game for High Point

    High Point made 8 errors in the field.

    Connor Scarborough started for HP and threw well but the errors behind him hurt.

    Ethan Ogburn came in for the final 5.2 innings and got the win in relief.

    Lomascola (sp?), the ace for Lake Norman's state champion team this past spring, started for Mooresville and didn't have his best stuff. Gave up about 7 runs or so in about 5 innings. He's still a great pitcher though and Catawba will be lucky to have him.

    Mooresville from what I've heard seems to be a team that hits real well but doesn't have tremendous pitching. I look for more high scoring games the rest of the series.

    Game 2 is tomorrow night in Thomasville and David Coffey is on the mound for High Point

    It was reported on the Cherryville radio station that Rowan Co. had eliminated the defending state champs Randolph Co. I do not remember the score.
