    The Perfect Game World Wood Bat 16U Nationals kicks off July 14 with 176 teams in East Cobb, Georgia.

    Teams from the Carolinas include - On Deck Os; Canes Showcase Baseball; South Charlotte Panthers; Diamond Devils; Dirtbags; Carolina Cyclones; Upstate Mavericks.

    Finals list to come in edit when a chance to review total field.

    South Canes win 11-0 this morning.

    North Canes tie 1-1............ LHP Jake Cave (2011, Hampton Christian HS, VA) went the distance for the Canes North 16s but couldn't come away with the win against the BigStix Gamers, instead settling for a 1-1 tie.

    Through seven innings, Cave faced just three batters over the minimum, surrendering one run on three hits while totaling eight strike outs. The 6-0, 170-pound southpaw also touched 90 mph and stayed in the upper 80s well into the seventh inning, peaking at 89.

    The CBC 2011 Diamond Rats lost a tough one this afternoon to the Triple Threat Bearcats (PA) 8-7 in a six inning contest. Starting pitcher William Frazier (Charlotte Country Day) pitched 5 strong innings giving up 3 singles and one earned run, with 7 K's and 1 walk. The D Rats had a 4-2 lead going to the last inning but the bullpen faltered, giving up 6 runs in the last frame, as the opponent bundled a few hits with some walks and untimely errors to grab a four run lead going into the bottom of the sixth. To the Rats credit they mounted a last inning rally and scored three, but couldn't push across the tying run. LJ Newman (Wren HS, Anderson SC) drove in some key runs early and late and Hunter Conley (Hopewell) also had a good day at the plate.

    Dirtbags 16's go down 1-0 to RBA 16U out of Richmond, VA. I don't know full details. But from what I understand, the only run came in from 3rd on a dropped third strike that the catcher threw over the first baseman's head.
