    Game 1:

    Rowan County 18
    Mooresville 2

Rowan's winning ways with Mooresville continued Monday night at they blasted the visitors to lead the best-of-three Area III Championship series 1-0. Starter Corbin Shive was sharp for five innings as he earned the win. Zach Smith and Noah Holmes hit homers for RC. Moors starter Ian Walters had to leave the game with an injury and his replacements were ineffective as Rowan continued to pound out hits. You could tell Mooresville had just finished a long series with High Point, but still no excuse. Rowan will try and earn Area III outright Tuesday night as they travel over to Mooresville High School for game 2. Billy Veal should get the start for Rowan.

Rowan County hits the ball well, and they just play the game the right way, you can tell they are very well-coached (hitting behind runners, running bases, pitchers backing up throws, etc). Mooresville looked exhausted tonight, just going thru the motions. Regardless of outcome of this series, both teams need to get rested before this weekend.

Btw Westboy, I almost had that $650 halfnhalf pot, only missed it by 500,000 numbers... :piss:

This series really doesn't mean a lot, and missing Lomo really helps Rowan. They're clearly the best team in the Area anyways.

Yes it was a very good crowd there last night, next time yell. As for Mooresville tonight, probably,,,, as for state tourney, probably not.

Btw, college coaches were there last night, there were a few who really helped themselves by sheer hustle. And of course there were a few who did not.

Rowan wins the series 2-0 and will be the Area III Champ and Mooresville the runner-up.

    Area III Champs!

    :N1yeeaah:

    Game 2:

    Rowan County 17
    Mooresville 11

Rowan wins Area III outright after being runner-up the past two seasons. Rowan starter Preston Troutman was rolling along through four innings until he appeared to run out of steam. Reliever Alex Litaker gave up the lead yielding a grand slam that gave Mooresville a 5-1 lead. Post 66 added another run that inning to lead 6-1, and appeared to have a good grasp on the game at that point, but Rowan had other plans. Rowan responded for five runs that next half inning. Noah Holmes hit a two-run shot that inning. Mooresville responded with two more runs to go ahead 8-6. But, back again came the hot RC bats and Rowan lead 13-8. Both teams threw several pitchers, getting in work before the state tourney.

Trey Holmes hit two home runs on the night. The second was an absolute shot that may have hit the school.

Mooresville ace Nick Lomoscola started, going 2 innings, giving up the solo homer to Holmes.

    Good luck to both

Good luck to Rowan and Mooresville for reaching the State championship. I know both of you will represent Area III very well.

Wished I could be in Greenville, but something called work is going to get in the way.
