I was a daddy on a bucket in the dugout calling pitches. Bush league maybe but we went to Walnut Creek twice. Don't be so quick to judge! Just curious have you ever called pitches ?

I think it is up to the head coach to determine this decision..if the father is knowledgeable about the game then he should help..if he is there to keep stats and make sure his daughter plays..he should be in the stands..plain and simple..i am for whatever the coach decides.

    Monte

Since Monte is the measuring stick on Parents in the dugout,I believe his assist. at CC was C. Blackwelder for a couple of years and a very good one at that.So it seems that knowlegable DADDIES should be OK

They are already in the pockets of the school board members, why not the dugout too.

So what are you saying by that, if its politics stay in the stands if its for the love of the game and desire to coach then its great? thats what i believe, there is always going to be politics involved no matter what though i guess..

but that doesnt mean that just because the parents help out financially that its all politics..i kno fathers who do help out with money but their DD's are more than qualified starters and some of which are committed college players..

Some of the opinions here emphasizes why it could be a bad idea. Because no matter how much they help, or donate, there will always be someone who puts a negative twist on it.

By observation, most of the negative comments I hear are because someone had (or has) a bad experience somewhere down the line.

99.9% of the time, if you refrain from negative comments you will benefit in a positive manner; thus overcoming the bad experience.

Trust me, nobody really wants to hear negatives; NOBODY--except another negative!

Well, using this criteria, Monte is a daddy, also! But that's not the point.

IF a program NEEDS to have a father to volunteer to coach, great! I'm glad they found some one to help out---he/she may be an outstanding one. But I believe most agree that if a coach doesn't have to go that route it's better for the program because it's one less concern and possible distraction a HC has to deal with--politics of assistant's DD starting.

The problem I have seen through the many posts on here is that the HS level coach, in general, is not the caliber coach you will find in TB, in general.(I understand there are exceptions.)

My remark about Monte was in reply to someone else's post. But you're right, you can use Monte Sherrill has the measuring stick in many areas....and if you had more of him in the hs ranks, you would have less complaints about effective hs coaches.
