Congratulations to Jeff Petty and the entire Canes Organization on such a tremendous accomplishment. Petty has worked very hard at putting together such a talented group of kids. The Canes pitching staff simply dominated throughout the tournament. I have never seen so many talented pitchers on a single team. This is a great coaching staff and a wonderful group of kids.

Good luck to the Canes going forward.

My conversation with Coach Jeff Petty

What was it like to experience the week at East Cobb with this team and these players and the thrilling games?

"My personal thoughts -- It was an unbelievable experience. I always wondered if it would be better to win a big championship as a coach than it was when we won the Virgina State championship my senior year as a player, and I can honestly say it was better as a coach. The players on this team were so business like its not even funny. They are so beyond their years as players, and their baseball IQ its not even funny. We definitely had some tight games in the play offs, and we just had kids over and over again come thru. It was always someone different. Landon Lassiter made one spectacular play after another at shortstop during our run, Luke Dunlap had 6 doubles off the wall in our last 4 games with a 2 run home run in the championship game. Joshua Tobias had to hit over .600 for the tournament with multiple extra base hits and 2 500+ ft home runs. Kyle Martin, Jake Cave, and Grayson Atwood were huge offensive guys for us all week those 3 guys can hit with anybody... Cameron Capell was as clutch as he can be. Cam played with me the week before at the 17s and for 2 weeks straight every time he came up with runners in scoring position and 2 outs he came thru with an RBI hit. I told him the other day I couldnt believe how many times he came thru with 2 outs it was super human. Ronald Womack pitched the game of his life in the semi-finals or else we never make it to the title game. My hats off to Ronald Womack for his effort on the mound. Curt Britt was a huge help on the mound, and hit in the middle of the order all week, and had countless big hits. Britt came into the quarterfinal game vs South East Texas when we were down in the game, and shut them down and allowed us to get back into the game. Nick Thompson helped us out on the mound, and with the bat. Thompson arrived on Friday by plane, and really had some clutch hits down the stretch. He had the hit in the bottom of the 7th in our 2nd round game that lead that inning off and ended up being the winning run in that game. Pitching staff was lights out. Jake Cave pitched 2 complete games, Jordan Ramsey absolutely mowed guys down in his innings, and he is getting so much better every time I see him. Ramsey projects thru the roof. Ryan Mayhew threw in 2 different games, and his relief appearance in the 2nd round helped us win that baseball game. Tyler Beede from MA was awesome in his outing in our 5th pool play game as well as Jordan Boze in the game as well. Clemson committ Daniel Gossett threw the ball well too. Obviously Dillon Maples throwing a no hitter in the title game speaks for itself. Dillon is a special talent. Michael Gilroy lhp from Brookland-Cayce HS had an outstanding tournament and really threw well in his relief appearance in pool play. All in all it was a great week, and a great group of kids to be around. They got it done at the highest level, and no one will ever be able to take that away from them. We will continue to work hard as an organization to bring more of these national championships back to this region of the country. We are not done!"

    Congrats

on a great accomplishment! I know several of these young men and they are very talented and outstanding young men as well. I am very proud of the fact that a team with so many players from our state went down there and took home the title. The Canes are an outstanding group and deserve the credit for not only putting together a great ball club but a great group of young men. Congrats!

Coach27--you have been given an infraction (not sure what that is) for being gone from TBR too long. Sorry I had to be the one to inform you. I strongly suggest to protect yourself that you don't be gone so long again. Stretchy is running a scam to take over your Sargent in Arms position
