Xavier Macklin is playing for Rocky Mount? Wow thats impressive. Thought a guy like that would definately be in a wood bat league. Guy was Freshman All-American at NC A&T

Now we're talking,,, thanks guys,,, afterall its all about giving the boys props. Can anyone share any info about Wilmington or Duplin? Also the Shelby crowd seems awful quiet (may have something to do with what Cherryville did to them in the Area 4 finals), but Shelby is still a contender and very well-coached.

Karlrocket, I agree with 3 of your first round picks, but I think Shelby/Wilmington is a tossup. Also believe Rocky Mount/Mooresville will go down to the wire because Motown will pitch one of best leftys in the state (Lomascola) and they've also been hitting the ball well as of late, but I agree with you, Rocky Mount prob has too much.

Still need info on Wilmington, Duplin, Pitt Co and Shelby...

    Wilmington

I wish somebody would post a roster. I'm sensing a little bit of sandbaggin from this part of the state. Wilmington should be very good if they got the better players on this legion team. The 4 major high schools were loaded with talent. Alot of good pitching, too. The newspaper didn't do a good job of covering this team, which is becoming typical of alot of local papers these days (budget cuts). Just guessing, but I'm expecting a very good Wilmington team to show up in Greenville.

Maybe he chose to play Legion, some do and some college coaches encourage it because they know they will play/pitch on a regular basis for a Legion team and may not be the case in a collegiate league.

    Xavier Macklin

Xavier played 19 games with the Wilson Tobs, before changing over to legion.

Xavier played last summer with the Wilson Bulldogs before leaving for college. He is an exceptional athlete. Very well-mannered & polite. He would have made any Division 1 school in the state better.

That's a pretty bold statement, although maybe true! Fish is a tremendous player, but consider this.......

Trey Holmes in his last 15 games......

40-75 (.533), 11 doubles, 8 HR, and 29 rbi's. In 15 games! This from the leadoff spot in the lineup where he has opened 3 games this year with leadoff homeruns.

He has to be in the conversation.

Ben Fish & Trey Holmes are both hitting well!

Let's say Ben Fish is one of the better hitters in the legion state tournament this weekend, along with Trey Holmes and a few others.

Definitely those 2 are good, I would probably have to include Zach Smith (Rowan) in any top group also, swings a good stick, has speed and great defense, just fun to watch.

I said somewhere else, I'd put Jake Watts (Cherryville pitcher) up against anyone in a big game..

Karlrocket, have you considered trying to make any of the games?

    Last 15 games.....

Some perspective on Rowan's last 15 games...

    Zach Smith 29-66 (.439) 8 doubles, 6 homeruns, 24 rbi's

    Noah Holmes 34-67 (.508), 4 doubles, 4 homeruns, 19 rbi's.

The above two along with the aforemention, Trey Holmes (40-75 ((.533)), 11 doubles, 8 HR, and 29 rbi's), have been carrying the Rowan attack over the last two weeks.

NOW WHO is the one making bold statements, saying Smith and the Holmes brothers have been carrying the team,,,,, tisk tisk.

... Russell Michalec .439, 2nd on team in runs and hits, and Corbin Shive 2nd on team in HR's, undefeated on mound,,,,, can they get some love? :9:

travis, I KNOW you'll be in Greenville this week, have fun. But listen, you, Westboy, SUMO and luigiboy need to stay out of trouble Sunday night... :schlacht:
