At the Team New Jersey Challege Cup in Edison NJ, they are playing by some of the craziest tie breakers I have ever seen.
    1. 1 inning of ITB (runner on second base)
    2. Each team picks 3 batters... 1 pitcher... 1 catcher... The pitcher and catcher take the field (alone). Each of the batters is pitched to and if they hit a fair ball the team gets a point... then they swap. (Walks and HBP are also considered as points. So they max you may get here is 3 points.
    3. If the game is still tied it would be determined by the flip of a coin.

This is by far the worst thing I have ever seen.

Disgusting! Almost as bad as a tie game--ALMOST!

Nothing wrong with a tie game if its a large tournament or showcase using pool play that needs to keep games on time for the benefit of everyone. Naturally you couldnt have a tie in bracket play.

Disagree! Use ITB. Count runners left on base, etc. ANYTHING but a tie!

Naaaaah! Nothings worse than having the 8pm game start at 10pm because games went extra innings. Win it in 7 or the time limit otherwise a ties is fine outside of bracket play

Tie games dilute the competitiveness of the game. What's wrong with breaking a tie with, for example, most hits, fewest errors, most strikeouts, fewest walks, or any other criteria that at least recognizes some skill effort?

They say that a tie is like kissing your sister; and losing is like kissing your grandmother (with her teeth out!). jk

But we really do need to eliminate ties. Seems like such an easy thing to do. Nobody that really wants to win is satisfied with a tie. Unless, of course, you had doubts that you could win; then a tie would be somewhat soothing, I guess.

"Tie games dilute the competitiveness of the game." How is that even possible??? Do you really think teams play their games thinking.."Gee, this game could end in a tie so I'm gonna take it easy" Thats nuts

No, they don't think that during the games. That's nuts. After the game is when they think they didn't get what they came for if it ends before it's over!
