Thought it would be interesting to see a list of the organizations/teams that, over say the past five years, have promoted the most players to the college level.
It would also be interesting to see them listed with a breakdown of in state/out of state or by conference, as well as DI, DII, DIII or juco.

In baseball (sorry Fish!) I can look at the Impact/Dirtbags, Hurricanes, SC Panthers and the Cubs sites and find 75% to 80% of the NC boys and where they will, or are, playing at the next level. Can't seem to find this with softball.

You're going to have a lot more than 4 teams to get to that percentage. :lolly:

in softball you may very well be right. In baseball, around a third of UNC's roster are former Dirtbags. Don't know if there's anything like that in softball... be interesting to see.

Angie Burnette, ?; Crystal Womble, NCCU; Shannon Brame, Peace. Don't know if these qualify, but they spent some formative time with the Challengers: Kelsey Eddinger, UNC-W; Katie Kisner, UNC-W; Amanda Davenport, UNC-W; Ashlee Crewe, Elon; Jamie Wellons, Charleston Southern; Brythe Blankenship, Furman?; Ariel Stout, Meredith; Meredith Phelps, ECU.

    the best play the best

Short answer, each other and some out of state teams that want to get their kids exposure to this region's schools. We do have a bunch!

All together, there are somewhere around 8 to 12 organizations/teams in NC that field true showcase level (recruitable and/or draftable players) teams at the 17u level. 17u is the age that most coincides with players that will be seniors and will be "signable" during the upcoming fall early signing period, or draftable the next spring.

You won't see tournaments locally that have more than around 8 to 12 teams participating. This includes teams from up and down the East Coast.. This allows the recruiters and scouts to really get a good look at players over a weekend. This is the priority for these teams/tournaments.

Some of these teams will also play in the Perfect Game/World Wood Bat Tournaments at East Cobb Ga. in the summer and in FT Meyers Fla (16u) or Jupiter Fla (17u) in the fall. These tournaments are huge and draw the best teams from across the country. They also draw just about every college program as well as scouts, scouting directors and some GM's from all the MLB teams.

Obviously, I gave you the long answer too! :blah:
