    100% Correct

CD's and Rodneys statements are exactly the reason I took the Cardinals list down from this thread. There is usually more than one travel team that has impacted any player who earned a college scholarship. Not to metion her parents and the hard work and sacrfices she and her parents gave.

Sure you must be part of a quality travel organization to get the most exposure. But in the end, all the credit goes to the young lady and her parents.

    Missed My Point

Thank you for comments but you missed my point. I was not looking for kudos for Blues at all, just letting Ashley get her dues! Travel Ball is a vehicle for which many girls can get assistance and the stage to showcase their softball talent, not unlike AAU basketball, etc. The Blues are just one of many travel teams in NC and the country that help girls get to the right tournaments so college coaches can see their talent. Most teams, coaches, etc. do this because they want the girls to succeed. Every coach, instructor, teacher, parent, sibling, and family members can take some credit in the success but I am sure we all recognize the "kid" worked extremely hard, took advise and used that information to get better and better and achieve their dream.
The Blues and all travel teams are only as good as their players execution and dedication, plus the support of parents and coaches, let's all work together to keep NC teams and players moving in the right direction. Yes, all deserve some credit but the player "did the deed!'

I agree with you 100%. With that understanding, there is nothing in the world wrong with displaying the names of players that have been a part of your success. You, along with any other organization or individual that helped along the way, have every right to be proud.

I know I'll get blasted for this, but to me, this is just another indicator of the "cream rising to the top" that has been discussed on this board many times. When you can assemble some of the the top players, great strides can be made for the reputation of NC softball.

So, please, all teams, be proud to post former players' names.

Are there a group of teams that the recruiters know will be laden with "next level" talent? That's what I was referencing with the baseball (sorry Fish!) showcase teams.

Many teams may have one, two or even three "next level" caliber players. What I was looking for were the teams that, year in and year out, put nine "next level" players on the field every time they play.

Most certainly the player deserves the most credit for achieving this status. But, no matter the level of talent, if a player doesn't get the right exposure then her prospects of having an opportunity to continue her playing days decreases.

    I agree with the phreak!

Put that list back up and be proud of it! Who knows, maybe some young lady will see it, recognize a name or a school, and decide to come to one of your tryouts and then, down the road, become the next big superstar in softball.

As the little dude in the movie "Angels in the Outfield" said... "it could happen!"

OK folks, Let me try to get this point or 11 across without losing focus.

    1. In the early years of TB 10, 12ish, many prominent orgs./teams put kids on the field to learn to play the game. These teams promote all aspects of raising and teaching the very fundamentals that are necessary to some day take the kids to the next level.
This "entry level" regardless of org./team is the very thing that perpetuates our sport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. When it comes time to really change focus from trophy hunting to get recruited, a different focus is applied.
Thats where "other orgs." etc. come into play.
If a kid develops their skills in org. "A" and org. "A" offers, what the parents want for their kid then maybe the kids stays with her original team and moves up.
If a kid is developed and she wants to play for another group that, say maybe travels west or plays a different way, or has a contact with the coach at the school of her future, then whats wrong with that?

A 1st grade teacher deals with 6 yr olds in a way that most of us will never understand. A middle school teacher, deals with crap like gangs and early pregnancy, and I can't imagine whats on the plate of the teachers and advisors in todays HS.

I do know this........all levels of these teachers can take credit for educating a kid.
Just like all of the orgs./teams can take a look in the mirror and say, "we've done good"!

Barry Sanders was one of the best running backs EVER in the NFL, and I had him on my fantasy football team. 'Ol Barry would shuck and jive in and out for 80 yards and then with the ball at the goal line, the Lions coach would put in another RB to score.

HHHMMM? So the other RB got the TD and Barry Sanders was over looked?
    No!

I applaude ALL of ya'll taking a part in moving our kids to the next level! Fishman
