Charlotte Cobras - good bye seniors!

Cobras went 4-1. Only one earned run given up in 28 or 29 innings. Hailey Harris was excellent this weekend throwing the bulk of the tournament. Boomer threw excellent in her innings as well. Great complements. Great pitching and defense! Bats showed up later Saturday for good.

    Fri
    L 2-3 v. Capital City Shockers
    Sat
    W 2-0 v. Randolph Rage
    W 2-0 v. Hurricanes
    W 13-1 v. CV Storm
    Sun
    W 13-0 v. Team TFS

Sadly we say goodbye to our seniors:
Lifetime Cobra, Leah Quant (Chia Pet / LQ), headed to Limestone Saturday.
Casey Baucom (Waterbug) headed to Catawba this past Wednesday.
Brittany Jones (Jonsey / BJ) heads to Brevard next weekend.
Alyssa Hartley (Chalyssa / Yeah Girl) heads to Lander next weekend.
Liz Dyer (Ed) heads to Chapel Hill next weekend.

Leah, Casey and Brittany finished their summers out in PA where we were rained out. Of course Leah threw outstanding on the mound all weekend and won her last game. Casey and Brittany, as always, were stellar on defense always making a difference for the team. BJ even got to throw a runner out at the plate in her final game. Parting words from the opposing coach to the next player who reached third base were: "no no no, stay here, we're not running on her again." We all got a nice chuckle out of that one.

Alyssa and Liz finished out their summer this past weekend playing exceptionally well. Both ended their final game with hits. Liz even got to throw out the lead off in a steal attempt in her final try. Boomer and Liz were perfect on the weekend cutting runners down on the base paths.

I cannot thank these five ladies enough for all their hard work and dedication to our organization. My heart is full and empty at the same time as we watch them leave us for their bright futures. They all leave us and their teammates with plenty of shining examples in various areas. We wish them nothing but love and success as they move on.

Good luck ladies, we love you and will miss you. You can be sure we will be keeping up with you as you will always have a a royal blue and black cheering section!

    Winners will be posted

There were several brackets too close to call at the end of the tournament due to ties. I will figure them all out tonight and post.

Actually Smokey Mountain Sting went 3-0-2 and they beat the Cardinals head to head. The Sting only gave up 3 runs for the tournament with no losses so the Sting won that pool.
