son played in his first wood bat tournament this past weekend at 15U

    couple of questions:

is it normal to play wood bat this early? if not when should they start in earnest?

is there a wood bat manufacturer in NC? I would like at the appropriate point to go and let him pick out the appropriate model. I seem to recall there being an in state manufacturer.

finally, Braves I sent you a PM...

    thanks!

Used to be Young Bat Company in Brevard, NC. Don't know if they are still in business since I haven't visited in several years, but they used to make bats for several pros and you could look at and handle the various models in their front office.

I know we got some pretty good bats from the Charlotte Bat Company. I think their name is their website too...

What do you mean might? You make the best wood bats in the country. How about putting a link up for your website

    compared to alum.

If you by a 33 inch wooden bat how does the weight compare to an composite bat. Is it still the same weight? Also what is the best wood, maple, ash or what?

Weight can be very similar. Its the weight distribution that differs. A 141 is about the closest you will get to an aluminum bat. Right now, maple is the hottest thing on the market. Its harder than ash and the wood grain compacts whereas the grain on ash seperates. Thats the reason ash bats flake and maple explodes.
