Ragsdale's 3a Impact jinx may be done as they are 4a this year I believe. This may be their year. One of the better programs in the state.

    Well Stated!

"All the good teams & pitching is in the Rowan County, Charlotte, & western area's of the state. We need to hold a conference in Greenville, & learn from the master." - previous post

I must say that is very well stated! East Rowan will have a stacked Varsity this year! Will Johnson, Preston Troutman, Will Sapp to name a few...that team all around is phenom.

    East Rowan Staff

East Rowan is going to be very talented next year. Their rotation should look something like this:

    1. Preston Troutman--The ASU commit is small in stature, but has an electric arm. Will play both short and pitch in college. Throws right and was hitting 86-88 over the summer.

    2. Parker Gobbel--Along with Troutman, saw lots of innings for Rowan's legion team in the state, southeast regional, and Little World Series last summer. Throws lots of pitches and has been pitching on Rowan's Legion team since he was a freshman. Right hander who throws around 82-85.

    3. Thomas Allen--Big as a horse and throws very hard. Has committed to a college, but I forget which one. 6'3 230lbs righthander who throws around 88-91. I think he had an injury a year or so ago, that has slowed his development a little. Could turn into the team's ace.

    4. Will Johnson--Crafty lefty who has pitched on and off on the Varsity team for 2 seasons. Threw against a North Davidson team 2 years ago (Levi Micheal, Tyler Hanover) and held them in check for 5 innings. Spent last summer on the Rowan Juniors.

I think most of these guys will eat up most of the innings. They also have Will Sapp, Bradley Robbins, and Jamey Blalock who can throw and throw well. They will be a very deep team.

    Great evaluation

Great evaluation of the ER pitchers, travisunc!

Just for Informational purposes about one player that is not really known about:

Thomas Allen, or "Big Al" as he is known at affectionately known around East Rowan, however, has not committed to any college yet, but is being looked at by several. He also has lost almost 20 lbs and gotten into great shape this summer by working hard on his own with a daily running and lifting program. He will always have those BIG shoulders. He has touched 91 several times this summer with his FB and has worked on a nasty slider. Since he is fairly new to Rowan County, he decided to play showcase with GBC-Royal this past summer with one of his best friends from Clemmons, Robert Deluca (FCDS-2011) but couldn't do both Legion and Showcase. He did work out with the Jr. and Sr.Rowan Legion teams at Newman Park during the week. Showcase with GBC was a great experience for him and gave Thomas some needed exposure after moving back to the Piedmont area from living in Northeastern NC (Elizabeth City) for 2 years. Thomas played most of his formative baseball years in Forsyth County at SWFLL and with Coach Chip Parker's Twin City Red Wolves. In middle school he played for Coach Eric Byrum at River Road Middle School, Elizabeth City, helping them win 2 middle school conference championships.
Hopefully, this spring will be East Rowan and Thomas' year.

    East should be loaded..

Allen and Troutman will likely start against stiff competition. Both have had great summers and should have a great Senior year.

Johnson (Jr), Gobbel (Sr) and Robbins (So) likely will fill in as closers or against lighter competition. All three have pitched extremely well this summer facing some pretty good competion.

There are also a number of other guys that pitched last year on JV, this summer on Jr Legion and on show case teams that could move into the mix if needed (Blalock and Rogers)

The pitching should be great, the defense should be outstanding and they should score a bunch of runs.

Not likely to ever see Will Sapp on the mound. If he ever plays anything other than center field its only because 7 or 8 pitcher all got injured.
