What do you guys think the interest would be if there were a NC ShowCase World Series where all the top teams play in a Championship Format. Just Curious.

    Great Idea....But

I think it's a great idea, the only challenge I see is getting all of the different organizations to agree to it. With all of the walls that have developed over the past few years I doubt that you will be able to get them all around a table to discuss the format, location and rules. The boys would benefit but a few organizations can't see past their own egos.

    something that might be fun...

Get the top four or five teams together and then mix up the rosters. Put all the pitchers names in one hat and the rest of the guys in another... this way each team is insured of having pitching. One player from each of the original teams will do the drawing until all the players are drawn.

Now here is where it gets fun... all the team coaches have to go sit in the stands, or the parking lot, or the nearest bar... The kids will work out line ups, batting orders and pitching rotations. Kinda like when we were kids and played pick up at the local ball field.

You would have umpires so you could avoid the old arguments on close plays or balls and strikes... don't want anyone to get pissed off and take their ball and go home!

Then, just let 'em play! It would be fun to watch and the kids would make a bunch of new friends while still showcasing their talents for the scouts/recruiters.

I heard about something like that. I think it's called sandlot....but it could have been one of those urban legends.
