    Mooresville 13

This game was tied 13 all at the half. But Mooresville completely stunk the second half. I dont know what it is with this team that they cannot finish a game. After giving up a 95 yd. punt return for a TD and a 97 yd. kickoff return for a TD, they were STILL in the game. But a torrent of turnovers and penalties doomed their efforts and the Blue Devils fell to 0-6 on the year. I honestly dont know if they're capable of winning a single game this season.

McDowell gets their first win of the season. I think this will be something to build on the rest of the season.

Hibriten over St. Stephens not sure of exact score. Also reported on the radio that Hibriten lost their starting QB during the game to a broken arm. St. was playing with 18 players (due to the flu), several freshmen were forced into action tonight.

I heard this info on the radio 630 AM
    -
    Bandys over Newton Conover 20-6.

Ragsdale recorded a second consecutive conference shut out rolling to a 31-0 methodical win over East Forsyth in Jamestown.

Looked like East may be able to move the ball early but Ragsdale put the clamps on D. Ragsdale’s first drive stalled around the ten but Kasey Redfern converted a 28 yard FG for a 3-0 lead 7 ½ minutes into the game. Ragsdale D held again but East got the ball back on a muffed punt. The turnover didn’t hurt Ragsdale though who held and then marched down the field again behind the hard running of D-onovan Smith. Smith had 70 tough yards in the first half on 13 carries. Luke Heavner hooked up with Luke Sonricker on an 11 yard TD at the 7:20 mark of the second, 10-0 Ragsdale. Ragsdale would get the ball back and Desean Anderson would convert a reverse from the ten for a 17-0 half time lead for Ragsdale.

In the second half Ragsdale’s first drive stalled and Redfern punted for the first time of the night. Ragsdale D held again and a nice punt return from Chris Armwood gave Ragsdale a short field from the 32. Ragsdale would have a 12 yard Matt Heavner TD run called back on a holding penalty but would get it down to the one foot line on the next play as Deshawn Shouse held on to an 18 yard Heavner strike. Shouse took a helluva hit as his helmet and ear pad went flying but the junior held onto the ball for his second catch of the year. Heavner snuck it in from a yard out for a 24-0 lead with 5:10 in the third.

Teams would trade possessions into the fourth with Ragsdale scoring one last time on a beautiful 42 yard pass from Heavner to Tyquan Roberts. We wanted TuTu (Tyquan) to see the ball all night and the 6’6” receiver didn’t disappoint hauling in his first TD catch of the year.

Ragsdale D held one more time to preserve the shut out. I left after the last TD with six minutes left. At that point I don’t think East had crossed mid field all night. Just another excellent job by the defense. LB Trey Swaim had a big sack. Trey Grimes made tackle after tackle. This sophomore LB really stands out on a defense full of stand outs. The team D is just so good everybody gets a chance to make plays.

The offense continues to be balanced. JR D-onovan Smith had 104 yards on 21 carries. No TDs but this kid really runs hard between the tackles. Heavner had a big night. One rushing TD, 12-18 169 yards and two TDs. Luke Sonricker caught 4 for 60 yards and a TD. Desean Anderson had his usual big production. Caught 6 passes for 51 yards and rushed 5 times for 36 yards and a TD.

Ragsdale now 7-0, 2-0 with a rivalry game next week at Southwest Guilford.
