This past weekend I really saw my kid relaxing ,and having a great time up at Mars Hill, and hitting well ,and playing hard. She laughed and acted crazy with her team mates, and had a great time. The recruiting days are over for us,and I can really see my kid coming to her full potential as a player. It felt good sitting back on my elbows, and watching the fruition of 13 years of park food, and gatorade. When you get there you will see...phew it's finally here...Also want to thank Coach Williams and his staff for allowing us to play on his facility, oh yea the weather was great ,and the leaves are really turning in the mountains...

I remember being at the ACC Baseball Tournament a few years back talking to the Dad of a Florida State player. I asked him how many ballpark hotdogs he thought he had eaten in his son's career. I asked to answer not in number but in length and he said it had to be more than a mile so far!

With my son still playing baseball as a junior in college and my daughter playing softball and being a junior in high school, I may be heading towards my second mile by now...

    Pass me the Rolaids please...

And Guru, there isn't a much better feeling then when your kid's dream comes true!

I will never forget the feeling of being able to throw away my file folders filled with letters and emails from coaches during my recruiting. It was one of the best feelings ever! Mine and my parents' stress went in the trash with those folders

    Good Post

Sounds like you did a nice job seeking your college of choice and put a great deal of time in your efforts. As you quickly found out, it takes as much or more effort getting coaches to watch, correspond, and finally get down to offers! Anyway great job, hope you enjoy college life.

Momma kept every letter etc. for keepsake.
Handsdown, what an awesome feeling for a kid to realize his/her dream when they commit or sign to play ball at the next level.

To the parents: The first time you hear your DDs name called out in the starting lineup of her team, and she runs onto that field, well, it will bring a bigtime happy tear to your eye!

ALSO: As odd as this might seem, I've heard stories from a few folks saying that when their DDs were announced, the parents had flashbacks on their kids growing up and found that they wish they had done some things different to help the kids. Me and mommafish included

Think about that for a minute.

    I think thats cool!

    No Pressure

    I'm with ya Guru -
My DD just played in her first tournament (in NJ) since committing. Gone was the stress of emailing the coaches, wondering if they would come, if they were there, would she play well? trying to not look behind the backstop, All the second-guessing and pressure and maybe a little of the "trying too hard". The kid that was on the field this week was relaxed, happy, and really just enjoying playing the game she loves. She had a great tournament, played really well and had fun. It was nice that her future college coach was there and being supportive also. I'm so grateful. BTW, I had a great time too! For all the same reasons.
We all are looking forward to ball for the rest of this season and next.
After that, I know my heart will be in my throat when her name gets announced at the next level... What a blessing for all of it!

Thank you bothsportsdad and lblues. It was such a long process once I realized that the coaches were not going to come to me. My dad had me making lists of things I need to do my freshman year of high school. I know I made the right decision though. I have had 3 great years and my senior year has started off great so far!
