Ok. I know this thread is not about prep baseball but I know there are some umpires out there tonight. Are they going to get one right tonight in the ALCS? The missed the pickoff at second and then got it wrong at third on the tag up. Then there was that bizarre play at 3rd. Weren't both guys out? Jorge Posada needs to learn how to run the bases. Too bad you can't have a runner for the catcher in MLB. Although I wish catchers had to run in high school. I'll be the first to admit that umps have a tough job. They are like meteorologists....only right half the time. LOL. Hey Stretchy, don't hold that comment against me this weekend.

Although they are graduates of his winter school...he can only train them.

But beware...Stretchy carries grudges like a Hatfield.

    umps

I'm glad someone brought this up......
I really don't know of a time when I have seen umpiring this bad in one game at any level.

-The pickoff at 2nd was an easy call and they showed the replay and the field ump was looking right at the tag and blew that completely.
-The tag up by Swisher was legal and I don't understand how he could have called him out when he was 4ft away. If it was obvious that he left, then of course an ump that close is going to see it but slow motion replay couldn't even show anything.
-The rundown at 3rd with Posada and Cano is elementary to me....2 runners that hadn't occupied the same base at the same time were both tagged while neither of them was on a base. Am I missing something?

These are supposed to be the most consistent umps all year and they are rewarded with playoff games....really? This many calls in one game?

    horrible horrible horrible

that ump needs to resign in shame. Making six figures and supposed to be at the top of his game and this is the best he can do?

On that tag up play they showed the replay and he wasn't even watching the runner on third - he was eye balling the out fielder - he merely guessed the runner must have left early.

    shameful

It was not much better last night in the Phillies/Dodgers game. The ump behind the plate was about .300 on his correct balls/strike calls. Everytime they showed the K-zone he was wrong. There was a play at 2nd last night that was missed also - Utley blocked the base and tagged the runner. I know I am very biased where the Phillies are concerned but I sure hope that neither group gets the honor of calling the World Series.

What about the Minnesota game and the foul ball? Last night was awful umpiring. But what about the terrible baserunning from millionaires? I turned the game off and watched the History channel. It looks to me that the Yankees must go to the World Series this year, and its not like they need any help.
