    One Comment !!

Age doesn't make you better, getting out there, and practicing does. Nobody from the ages of 13-18 has every picked up a softball once in awhile, and dominated the field. But a kid that practices 3-4 times a week will....

What an ignorant comment!!!, The Curve and Lightning were both awesome teams and had talent of all ages, i know we had 4 sophmores out there that were awesome, along with the SS from the Lightning who was a freshman, and their pitcher a sophmore just to name a few. Also, the other teams we played great talent as well including Thunder, and Sandlappers.

The curve had a scrimmage game set up with Spartanburg-Methodist, and they had to cancel. If we really wanted to dominate, we could have dropped down to 16U. All but one of our players are eligible.

That was my point. Thanks for illustrating it.

The Curve was playing in a combined 16U/18U bracket, so that would have made exactly zero difference. As was pointed out, the 14U Sandlappers didn't have anyone not 14U eligible, and not many who weren't first year 14U. The only teams there that had players not 16U eligible were probably the Lightning, Thunder (White) and the Curve.

    Talent vs Age ??

Talent is not determined by age, but by hardwork and sweat. I know for a fact that my kid has worked hard for over 13 years in this game, and she was as good at 12 as she is at 17. I heard from the head coach of the Curve team that this Sandlapper team was going to be a team that would really turn heads in the future. I've heard nothing but good things about all the teams in Spartanburg this past weekend..

Surely you don't mean that she hasn't gotton any better since she was 12. A little modesty would not hurt this Curve team at all.

    Oh Well !!

You are missing the point...When you enter into 16/18U combined tournament what age should you expect to be in it ?? Now if a 12U wants to play in a 16/18U that's their prerogative, and they can win it if they have the talent and strength, so age really doesn't matter if your team is mechanically sound.

Ok this is getting crazy and all over the word "dominates". I guess you would have to have seen all the games to know where this origiantes from. The Curve girls this weekend dominated on excecution. Exuction of the game of softball. Irregardless of age, or scores, or opponents it's what we as coaches strive for and try to teach the young ladies. To get bunts down, execute hit and runs, steals, hitting behind the runners, getting lead runners out, making adjustments to pitchers and umpires, to communicate and play as a team and most importantly have FUN!!!

The post was meant to give these girls some "shout-out" for all their hard work.

Cudos were given to other teams in the tournament - one in particular was the (purple & white) Sandlappers. A team to be as young and talented as they are, are doing the right things in my opinion. If that team stays together they are going to be a very good team as their experience grows.
