Statesville Owls baseball advisor Tom Worrell and General Manager Hugh McBride announced today that Jamie Lowe and Chris Johnson will lead the Owls into their inaugural season. Worrell stated, “After an exhausting search, we believe that we have brought together two of the most talented young coaches to not just lead the Owls but also identify and sign the most talented collection of colligate players from around the country”.

When asked about being appointed as head coach Lowe explain that he was very excited about the opportunity and had already begun his player evaluations in preparation for extending offers to players to join the Owls team for the 2010 season. Jamie added, “What attracted me to the Statesville Owls was the real sense of community, being part of an organization with a rich history in a city that is ready for the return of baseball”.

The Owls will play at Statesville Senior High School hosting 14 home dates starting June 1, 2010 and running through July 17, 2010.

Southern Collegiate Baseball League...and sure would like to have some ex-South Caldwell kids

TBA- you know me well enough that if I'm going to be involved in something, it will be the best organization in the league. The people involved are unbelievably talented. I'll be shocked if we don't lead the league in attendance and each game will promote some fun activities. To be honest, the biggest concern I have is to be able to seat everybody coming to the game. We're having to build an "Owl's Nest" for some of the...ahem...boisterous...fans that will be attending.

We're well on our way on filling our roster with some very talented kids. The SCBL had no idea what they are about to be facing with this aggressive group. There won't be anything else like it in the league. I can say this with certainty; the players involved this year with the Statesville Owls will beg to come back the following year. They will have a blast!!!!!

By the way, we will have this one particular season ticket holder whom EVERYONE, including umpires, will know at every game. This guy is old skool with a foghorn voice. I feel a little sorry for the opposing team and the umpires that are not making correct calls---he's a show by himself.

The games will be very fan interactive, but the point I want to get across is that there will not be better entertainment for your buck.

Oh...did I mention that great food we will have.......
