Impact's Weekend

Can anyone give a report on the Impact Baseball Senior Select Game as well as the Impact Underclassman Showcase? I see today's games got cancelled out there but how did everything go Saturday?

Who stood out? Many coaches in attendance? Etc..

Players everywhere on Saturday....

I had the pleasure of chauffering Southern01 up to the game so that he could do some recruiting for at least one if not two Nash County High Schools. I had some fun before the game with my buddy oldbbguy as he gave me some details of the escapades that Coach Ray Allen had in Jupiter.....seems like Ray thought he was in Vegas!!! Jerry Narron did tell me that Bucky Dent ex-Yankee told him that Jupiter by far is the best showcase event bar none. Guess I will have to make the trip next year.

The game was outstanding (considering I thought it might be a 10 run rule game) the uncomitted stepped up to the challenge BIG TIME and won the game 3-1....all of the pitchers did a great job, I wish I had kept track of all the pitchers names. I do remember that Steve McKinney and Brandon Reitano had rbi hits. The coaches I saw ECU, UNCW, UNCG, UNCC, UNC, Methodist, Barton, App St and Western Carolina were all paying very close attention to the game.

The report from the umpires regarding the underclasmen games were that there was a lot of good talent on the mound from the 8 teams. One lefty that impressed Coach Q was Jeremy Johnson as well as the righty Zach Cooper. Awesome how the fields at the complex are kept in perfect shape.

Best part of the trip was watching Q sleep on the way home after our pit stop for some delicious grub at PF Changs.

 

Thought uncommits did an excellent job yesterday and just wanted it more. On the bump every pitcher from the uncommits did a great job. Several that stood out to me were LHP Corbin Cochran with a 5 pitch inning and RHP Jimmie Davis who pitched the 8th and the 9th keeping the committs off balance with a good curve and almost unhittable change up.

 

What a shame Jeremy Johnson can't be recruited!! Changs was much better this time than last, although it was unsettling to watch Stretchy accuse the poor little waitress of not knowing shrimp from shinola. However, it did gain us a second round of steamed shrimp dumplings at no charge. What a guy.

 

Why can't he be recruited? Where does he go to school?

 

Oh he can be recruited, just not by certain folks!! Anyway, he's already where he needs to be.

 

Can anyone report on the Impact Unsigned Senior event yesterday at Wingate? What coaches were there and any players stand out? Any other good showcase events coming up?
