It is 2 weeks prior to McDowell vs. Freedom with a rematch one week later. I can't believe there is no chatter about these games.

Has the conference realignment taken away the luster of the rivalry? Any predictions? Will the gyms be full, as usual?

How about a recap of both teams.

I really hope the luster of the rivalry isnt diminished, but im afraid it will be to an extent. Both games are on Tuesday nights, which will definitely affect the crowds. If they were on Friday nights, it might be a different story. I just hope the NCHSAA is really happy with all of this in the fact they're sacrificing competition to make a few extra bucks.

With this still being a very competitive rivalry, this should have been scheduled on Friday nights to get the best crowds, gate, and even the best out of the players. I just hope Freedom can increase their attendance so that in 2013, they'll be back to being at their rightful place in being 4A school and we can get them back into our conference schedule.

As far as a prediction goes, McDowell is very good and Freedom has lost alot of their scoring. I see McDowell sweeping both games....At home by 10-15, at Freedom by 5-10.

I'm looking forward to Tuesday night...while there will no longer be conference and playoff seeding implications on the line, I still think you'll get no problem from both squads getting the maximum effort on the court. Both coaches know the importance in this rivalry.

After hearing that Freedom had to hit a game-winning shot friday night to beat Draughn, I'm sure they'll want to come back and play a better game. Right now looking at both squads, McDowell on paper has the better all-around team but Connelly is more than capable of putting on a big performance. It will be interesting to see what she does now that she is the main target on offense.
