    As we are about 8 weeks away from the beginning of full squad practices I was wondering what some of the top conferences, and top teams might be throughout the state in HS this year. Yea I'm bored but give a shout out to the top teams and why you think they will be tough.

    here are some

    Not in any real order of strength..... Mt Pleasent, West Stanly, N Davidson, Butler, Alex Central, South Stanly, N Surry, E Surry, Forbush, W Forsyth, Southwest Randolph, Porter Ridge, Providence, Audrey Kell.... Look for these schools to be around the top 10 in 1a,2a,3a,4a all season. There are others but these will be the main one's to watch. There may even be some surprises out there.

    Don't discount teams on the eastern part of the state. There are some programs east of I95 and on the coast. The first to come to mind would be Laney.

    West Johnston should be very strong in the 4A with pitcher Lexi Betancourt, and several other returnees and very good freshmen.

    Harnett Central should be strong as a newcomer in the 4A this year, Greater Neuse. Jessi Lane should be back.

    A few in and around the Triangle. 2A Northwoods should be solid as well as, South Granville who is moving down to 2A, they will be young but return a solid senior who had to sit last year do to injury, also bringing a solid freshman class with an excellent coaching staff they will be a tough out by states time. 3A in the Carolina Conference Northern Vance returns 8 starter as well as 11 of 12 rostered players from last years team who made to the 3rd round of the state, Southern Vance moving to 3A with a team that made to the 4th round of the 2A states last should be very solid I believe they return all 9 starters, also expect Orange to be solid with strong pitcher in the circle they will be able to beat anyone on a given day. 4A Wake Forest Rolesville should be very good again. I know I've left some off but these are schools I know well.
