I wouldn't stress too much about this. Everyone makes predictions. The news media does it all the time. Until try outs are over and the list is posted anything can happen.

It might do a team good to have the newcomers putting pressure on those who think they'll be on a team just because they were there last year. I would never tell a kid they will definitely be on a team, though; I tell them the competition will be close. And this year it is!

Also, don't sweat the negativity on this board; it happens a lot, but regulars on here know who they are. (Dukedog's not one of them.) The mods keep them in check. The people at the HS association are also aware of people who like to attempt to tattle.

Predictions aren't against the rules; even if they are right on.

So if someone reports a wrong to the HS association, you think it is tattling? Shouldn't everyone have to go by the same rules? Everyone knows how political it all is and that this kind of thing goes on but we are not supposed to talk about it which was proven by the posts that were edited.

well, actually, no rules were broken as referred to in anyones post here. softball can practice in 8's except in dead periods, and most hs's do this except during the dead periods. telling someone they have made the varsity team before tryouts is not against any rules, though not what i would consider very smart, but thats just my opinion.

so, can we just stick to the intent on the thread and stop baiting members??????????

    remember the thread

this thread was posted to give folks a chance to look forward to this upcoming year and how might a new young kid could make a difference on a team here or there.
as far as any coach or program "breaking rules", i agree with cheeze, i don't see any offense by some TBR poster saying that "they've already made the team".

if i were the coach in HS and i had 9 freshman who were better than the kids from my last years roster, then you can bet your bottom dollar i'd tell them that they are on the varsity as quick as i can! i'd hate to lose a badass catcher to the soccer team to be an all-state goalie.

Ric Flair says, "to be the best, you've got to beat the best"..... to me that means raise the bar as high as you can and let the kids reach it on their own at any age.:fish::fish::fish::fish:

Hi Guru, Pookie has been down the last few month but fighting back strong. She had to have surgery on her shoulder in September for a labrum tear. She played hurt during the spring and still received the Defensive Award and All Conference award so we haved high hopes she will come back to the field in late February stronger than ever. She is a part of the Carolina Elite organization out of SC. I will be sure to tell her that you asked about her ... that will make her day.
