Watch out for North Davidson....probably a sleeper...always very tough team and Coach Meadows always gets the best out of his players...key players will be Kelly Seacrest (UNC-W) and Landon Lassiter (brother of NY Yankee Garrison Lassiter)

    My top...

I would have to say some of the teams in my top would be Ardrey Kell, Hopewell, and Mooresville. Ardrey Kell will be loaded again even though they lost many key players from last years team. Hopewell will be very consistent and Hunter May is one of the best pitchers in the area. Mooresville is loaded with seniors this year and has many juniors that will impress. Many people are coming up from their 20-1 JV team from last season and also has many players from the 2009 Jr American Legion State Champion team.

This will be a very exciting year in the 4A conference.

    From The East:

    Mideastern 4A:
    Greenville Rose
    Hoggard
    Laney
    New Bern
    New Hanover
    Ashley

This conference will be strong. Rose, Hoggard, & Laney were in the hunt last year. Rose lost quite a few players from last year, but they mostly re-load every year. I'm sure RV will have a good team. The Wilmington schools will be competitive. Maybe someone from Greenville & Wilmington can feel us in on all the returning players & new guys.

I can speak for Rose a little. They will reload...always do. Chase McDonald and his power game will be back at first. Plenty of talent that are now seniors will fill out most of the positions. Pitching will be solid...will need to depend on at least one jr to step it up. Possibly another State title??? I think a lot will depend on the pitching.

One team from Wake County always seems to fly under the radar and make a little playoff run...

Not sure who it will be this year. Sanderson should be down from last year. Don't think Broughton returns too much. Green Hope, Middle Creek, and Holly Springs will all three be strong. Garner could make some noise. How 'bout Millbrook?

    Cap7 was tough last year

It would be interesting to know more about the CAP-7 teams, remembering last year in the state playoffs in the East Lower bracket were teams from the Greater Neuse, Tri-8, PAC-8, and CAP-7. The CAP-7 dominated those other conferences with the top 3 teams from the CAP-7 (Millbrook, Broughton, and Sanderson) all made it to the final 4 of the bracket, with Sanderson upsetting Millbrook to go to the Finals of the East and eventually the State finals (losing to champion AK).

Millbrook lost two starting pitchers in LHP Jake Harris to East Carolina and RHP Bryan Lincoln to Louisburg College. They keep their middle infield in the Hanks' brothers. LHP Justin Abbott will have to be the bulldog this year whether his BB is ready or not. Millbrook will continue to control the tempo of the game on the mound and on the base paths. They truly believe that this game comes down to execution. If they control what they can control and make the simple plays then let the baseball gods take care of the rest.
