Bumgarner rated 10th best Prospect

Madison Bumgarner (South Caldwell HS product) was rated the 10 best prospect by the MLB Network Wednesday night. I hope he keeps the train going to the major leagues. I got a feeling he starts at AAA. Good Luck to Madison !!!!

 

That will be an interesting decision. But there are injuries and a retirement on staff that may find him with the parent club on opening day. Personally, I hope they don't rush him..he's too good!

 

I ran into a guy in the Giants front office last week in Las Vegas and I brought up Bumgarner. This person said the Giants are entering Spring Training with the position that the #5 starter spot is his to lose.

 

Someone that posts on here and has a pretty good pitcher for a son, got a heck of a deal on a signed Bumgardner jersey at the Charlotte Hot Stove League Dinner!!!

I agree that he's too valuable to take a risk with at this point in his career. I hope that his velocity dropping at the end of last year is nothing to be concerned with. I'm a big MB fan and hope to see him pitch someday in the All Star Game.

 

Madison Bumgarner

There were talking him up big time this morning on MLB again reiterating that #5 slot. John Hart loves him and sees nothing but upside potential, especially because of his age and dang, I didn't realize his size!! Good Luck Madison!

 

I recently talked to Kevin and was told that the fifth starting position is Madison's to lose. I hope that I am not stealing Kevin's thunder!

 

This would be an ideal way for him to break into the majors in terms of innings pitched. He threw 141 innings each of the last two seasons, which is about the average # for a fifth starter in the MLB.

There's alot of evidence that suggests increasing a young pitchers workload by 30 innings or more from one season to the next is not a good idea. It looks like the Giants did a great job of mapping out Madison's future.

I also think that Madison built up a solid base of innings pitched between
South Caldwell and Post 29 as a 4 year starter, with both teams going deep in the playoffs repeatedly. I would guess that he was over 100 innings most years.
