All this winter weather is doing a big job on the schedules of those west of Charlotte...if there are any game scores, post'em here.

NOTE: Conference Tournaments are 2 weeks away for most everyone...the post-season is getting here fast.

According to the local radio Asheville at McDowell is still on for Tuesday night. Keep us informed BigDan if you hear any different.

Asheville @ McDowell is on for tonight...you might as well get ready to come on out. It sure beats sitting at home and watching it rain all day.

    McDowell 84
    Asheville 43

    Tuccoa Brackett: 16 points
    Xandi Gellman: 13 points

NOTE: The word going around at the game tonight was that the McDowell-AC Reynolds rematch at Reynolds may be moved up to Thursday Night due to possible weather issues this weekend. Hopefully a confirmation of that can be made tomorrow morning.

There's a big game tonight in Charlotte...East Meck and Butler: Round 2. I'll be courious as to the outcome of that.

Great Game - one of the most entertaining I have watched. It is fun to watch East Meck as the favorite in this one with Butler having to react with strategy.

Butler played a slow down game and ball control game in the first half and it worked very well. East Meck presed the second half and caused a little trouble, especially late in the 4th quarter when Burdick was on the bench with 4 fouls.

2 wins by East Meck and 2 more potential matchups. Butler knows how it feels to win 2 regular season games but lose the one that matters the most in the postseason.

East Meck is strong - very strong. They have all of the pieces need to win a championship, including:
1.) Size - 6'4" center that is a big factor on defense.
2.) Penetration - two players, including Tellier that penetrate the middle as well as anyone I have seen.
3.) Outside Shooting - one outside shooter that floats around outside waiting for the open shot. Hits them most of the time.
4.) Depth - strong role players coming off the bench.
5.) Coaching and on - floor leadership.
6.) Great transition game - runs very well.
7.) Team Unity - this group plays as a team and is very unselfish.

    Butler is good
1.) Burdick and Watkins are two of the top three players in the west, based on what I have seen. Great ballhandlers and shooters.
2.) Good point guard with a lot of defensive tenacity.
3.) Guard scoring is an issue - 6 points against EM last night.
    4.) Limited depth
5.) New guard will be starting this week - hopefully after report cards are released. She is needed and could be a difference maker.

Man - the playoffs are going to be fun. Both of these teams will have to travel for key games in the state tournament so their path will be difficult.

After moving the jv games up an hour to 3 pm and after all the McDowell folks make the trip and gets settled in, a decision was made during the middle of the jv boys game to cancel the varsity matchups between McDowell and AC Reynolds.

As the McDowell people were walking out the door, someone announced that it will be made up next Thursday, time TBA.

The weather is really wreaking havoc up here in the MAC...most everyone are playing 3 games next week. Infact we got 3 in a row.

I know what you mean BigDan. We have been playing 3 games a week for the last month in the New NW3A/4A, and if weather permits, we now have 4 games next week. This has been a crazy winter.

Good luck the rest of the season. Seen both McDowell teams play and they are both gifted. Hope you're post season goes well... unless you play us. :)
