I think this will change a bit once the season gets rolling
Hopewell has a well deserved spot but Mooresville should be right up there with them, but since they did not finish last season well I understand why they are not ranked.

It's fun to rank teams and to see where different people think teams should be slotted, but it means little to nothing once the players step out on the field next week!!!

Absolutely mind-blowing that a Tri-9 team is not in the poll. There are at least 3 teams in this conference who could be ranked with one of these 3 being a no-doubter.

You will have to look long and hard to find a deeper, tougher conference than the Tri-9 will be this year.

I thought Patton was 2-A??? Did Mt. Pleasant move to 3-A also? Boy I need to brush up on the new conferences!

The Tri-9 will be very, very good conference this year. I think a lot of the teams will beat up on each other during the regular season, but someone will make a run in the playoffs. It's going to remind me of the CAP 7/8 of the last 3 years. The CAP 7 didn't really get the attention that a lot of conferences did in the preseason or during the season, but then a 5-8 loss team made a serious run (semis and championship) the last 2-3 years.

I'm not sure, but I think the W. Raleigh 12U team that won the National Cal Ripken World Series are now 11th graders and a lot of these players are on the Middle Creek team. I may be wrong, but I think this is correct. Anyway, there will be very good baseball in the Tri-9 this season.

travis nailed it. Tri9 is loaded but they will probably beat up on each other, atleast the top 3-4 will do so. the top 3-4 could compete to win any conference in the state. good teams means good players obviously. lots of talent up and down the rosters. holly springs joining the conference made it that much tougher.

not surprised to see any left out of the preseason rankings though. that's how it is.

    Same as last year

The two 2009 4A Championship series teams (Raleigh's Sanderson of the CAP 7 and Charlotte's Ardrey Kell) were not ranked in the preseason or the last poll issued. There never was a"final" poll published.

The Tri 9 will be fun to follow and I look forward to seeing them in June 2010 playing for the state 4A Championship.
