    Torn...

    Don't want them there (or anywhere my DD for that matter! :)) but at the same time if they are there, you don't have to worry about your DD checking her darn phone every minute during warm-ups, between innings, when the coach isn't looking, etc. to see if he txt'd her. Trust me, I have seen all of the above too many times...

    Have even seen the boyfriends coming with and staying with the DDs family. Now that I don't get!!!

    never had any success from that venture. after a couple of lousey experiences by players, we forbid it. i constantly see this in hs ball, as we couldnt forbid the boyfriends to come, heck, at most points, we would welcome anyone to come view our games.

    its a no win situation in my opinion, just another distraction....

    Why does this have to be just for dads???


    Now Im not a dad but I have played and coached girls whose bfs come to all their tournaments and some of them played no different either way and others stunk it up big time. So I would say its up to the kid to realize if their performance suffers from it. For me my parents being at my game screwed me up... so my parents werent allowed to come. And it was me who realized that it was best for me and I am lucky that I had parents who understood.

    BUT WHAT KILLS ME and what should be the topic of this conversation is "should cell phones be allowed at a tournament?" I am addicted to my phone but nothing bugs me more than seeing kids with phones in their batbags. They should make players check their phones at the gate.
