With the exception of quite a few mountain schools, Conference Tourney's begin as early as today. IF you have the pairiings and sites, please post them here. In regards to the MAC, as soon as we get the official word it will be posted. Also for those still playing regular season games, post your scores here...folks, with the playoffs now a week away, I'm hoping that we can get more people participating on this forum.

Watauga is to host first round NW3A/4A. Women hosting Fred T Foard at 4:30pm on Tuesday with the Men hosting S Caldwell at 6:00pm. The road conditions don't allow games on Tuesday, then the games will be played Wednesday at a neutral site at Hibriten. If the schools can't come to Boone due to road conditions, then how can Watauga travel off the mountain to a neutral site under the same road conditions? It sounds like the Watauga administration is caving to the conference powers of the Catawba schools. Watauga is never going to get a fair shake in this conference

Was this game played in the Fairview dungeon or a gym at North Buncombe?

it has nothing to do with the coaches or AD's of Catawba County. it's the county office. they got A LOT of heat a few weeks ago for allowing Saint and Foard to play in spite of the snow. it took kids, buses and parents took 2 hours to drive across town. at this point they are being WAY too over-cautious in my opinion as well, but in the end it has nothing to do with athletics at all. it's the safety of the student-athletes, coaches and fans traveling these roads.

and when you say that the Pioneers will never get a fair shake, please remember that the games mean the same to their opponents as they do to Watauga. they aren't the only ones who missed out on ball games at all. South Caldwell boys don't get a Senior night either so trust me, there is no conspiracy to be found.

UPDATE: There will be another AD's meeting this afternoon to finally determine the fate of the MAC tourney. One possible scenario being floated around is splitting the 3A schools from the 4A schools and hold two mini-tournaments at different sites. That type of setup could help prevent any member school from playing five games this week. We should know more about this by late afternoon.

BTW, Erwin and McDowell is on for tonight...
