State Games registration is now open on the www.ncsports.org website. There are also maps available if someone is not sure about what Region their High School is in. Click on the State Games logo, go to Softball- High School and the page will come up. Everything you need to know about registration is on that page. Please take time to register if you plan to try-out in your respective region. Remember: There will not be on-site registration for try-outs. You must pre-register before tryouts begin. Get signed up today!!!

State Games of North Carolina Dates: Monday June 21st-Wednesday June 23rd for underclassmen and the East/West All-Star Game for Seniors on Thursday June 24th.

The State Games offers the opportunity for the best HS players to compete against each other.

Unlike regular season ball where you have to play with who you were dealt State Game teams are picked during tryouts. And it doesn't matter if you're 4A or 1A. If you have the skills you have a chance to make the team.

I'm guessing most of the players that play in the State Games also go on to play in college.

There have been many college coaches at the Games.

The Games this past year were really good but my favorite was the first ones at UNC-G. The atmosphere there was very much like a college playoff. They had professional announcers; all the games were played at the UNC-G stadium, not scattered about. It was awesome!

If you know kids that you think are stand outs at their school you owe it to them to make sure they know about the ncsports.org site and registering for the State Game tryouts--our Olympics!!!

    Coaches

The State Games of North Carolina will release the names of the Coaches for the 2010 State Games the week of February 22nd. That is next week, but I do not know what day they will be released. They are in the process of letting the coaches know first of their selections.

    Tricky!

The names will first be posted on the North Carolina Amateur Sports website. You can get into some serious trouble if you just cut and paste documents, lists, etc. from other websites. The North Carolina Softball Coaches Association provides important links to other websites to help out. After it is posted, you can go to the www.ncfastpitch.org site for the link or the link could be posted on TBR if the moderators feel that is appropriate. Just need to be careful in posting entire documents because of the infringement issues.

    Coaches announced!

The names of the Coaches for the State Games have been announced on the NCAS website. Go to www.ncfastpitch.org, click on important links, click on State Games of North Carolina, click on logo, click on Softball-High School, click go and you are there. Regional maps and Coaches are listed on that page.

I noticed for the West Senior games you have Ann Gardner from Tuscola as an assistant coach. Are you sure because she doesn't even coach softball for the high school anymore.

    Yes!!

Yes! Both the NCSCA and the State Games are aware of Coach Gardner not coaching at Tuscola. Thought it would be good to list her anyway as she has gone through the State Games program and has earned the recognition of being an All-Star coach for the Seniors.

    District 8 coaches beware!!

When selecting your pitching staff: remember, speed will get you nowhere down state. you got to have someone who can move the ball around the plate! last years pitching rotation got rocked from top to bottom. you cannot blow the ball by everyone when you get out of the mountains!
