If you ask me, the 4A girls bracket in the west could have all kind of different scenarios play out, especially Sectional 3 and 4...

Butler and East Meck are favorites to appear in the regional final by most everyone. My question is...

Does the recent addition of players take care of Butler's one obvious weakness (backcourt)?

What role will the health of a couple key players for East Meck play on their run through the Sectionals?

Those two factors would be the only obstacles both Butler and East Meck will have to face.

The lower half of the pairings IMO are open. One of the more exciting possible matchups in the 2nd round would be AC Reynolds and South Caldwell. Reynolds is a good team with senior leadership, South is a solid, well coached group that plays in a hostile environment...two old Northwestern 4A foes could clash.

Sectional 4 is also hard to call as well. McDowell losing their top 2 scorers makes their game with Mallard Creek tomorrow more of a challenge. The Maverics got hot last year and made a strong 5 day run to a regional berth...is there another team that could get hot over the next 5 days?

Mallard Creek is a good team. A tri champion of the IMECK in fact. McDowell will have a tough time with them. McDowell could even go down. BigDan check your PM's.

Bigdan - what happened to the two McDowell players?

I can't predict Butler and East Meck, as there are playing teams that I know nothing about.

I think Butler is peaking at the right time and East Meck will be fine.

Also, Myers Park may make a little noise in the playoffs. They are very well coached and fairly talented.

Our two leading scorers (Autumn Ward and Tuccoa Brackett) both suffered knee injuries within a 7 day period. Combined, you're taking about 25 points per game away from the lineup. Brackett, who was only a sophomore was really developing her game before the injury. She will be back next year. Ward is a senior, its never good to see a player end their high school career in that fashion.

What a shame - you hate to see that happen. Best wishes for a speedy and 100% recovery!
