Kinston High School

First, I'd like to thank everyone again for all your help. Coach Wade has had a larger than expected turnout of new kids coming out.

There are still a few things he needs:

- Gloves
- Cleats sz 9-11
- bats

and this is one other area that he would like to get help with. The team has new uniforms, but he has had to order new hats at a cost of $600. He is trying not to have to charge the kids, so any help to defer this cost will be appreciated.

Just to let everyone know; I have secured a donor willing to match dollar for dollar up to the $300......so please, if you can help Coach Wade out it would be appreciated. I will keep you informed of how the collection of donations is coming.

I was wondering if there is any update on the progress at Kinston High School? How was the turnout this season, and are the kids in good shape regarding the stuff they need to play?

 

Great question. Coach Wade recently contacted me to update. I'll let him fill us in. I believe he has pictures of the uni's

 

I believe he said they had around 25 or so to try out which didn't include a few from the basketball team who is in the 2nd round of the playoffs tonight. Up from last year and they will field both a varsity and jv team this spring.

 

we actually had our first jv practice yesterday. we have had a hard time getting a jv coach in place and he finally was able to start yesterday. we had 8 jv players out yesterday and 2 were not at practice. 2 freshman are working out with the varsity because we currently have only 9 players. once basketball gets finished the varsity will be getting 3 more players and the jv's will be getting 3 as well. jv's could actually use a few more decent gloves and any old bat bags you may have. i handed what bags, gloves, and cleats i had out to them on the first day and it was great. they were really excited.

unfortunately we have already had one jv player (that was pretty good actually) quit because he said baseball was too cold of a sport.

i will try and get some pictures of the jv's in the next couple of days and send to braves so he can post online. thanks for all of your help so far.
