i guarantee that almost every kid on our hs team reads this forum, but none have the courage to post. many, many girls read this forum looking for their name or someone they know.

    Sports are full of.....

    .....peaks and valleys!

Give our kids props when they're peaking and pick them up when they're struggling.

it may or may not be known that i coach a team with a long history of sub-par performances. but with the help of some great coaches in the area in the form of equipment, tips, and words of encouragement, my girls are more optimistic this year than they have ever been. We have got one game played in and lost by fifteen in three innings, but my girls were excited about what they saw in themselves during this game. It is a big thing to some of these girls, who have never picked up a bat or a glove until ninth grade, to be able to make contact during an at-bat. Who cares if the ball only rolls back to the circle, or is lined weakly to second, for that one moment that girl feels like her work is paying off. It fuels a love of the sport. Seeing my girls go 0-2 at the plate and smiling about a pop-up out is way more rewarding than seeing another girl go 2-3 at the plate and make a fuss over the one ball she didnt hit perfectly. What I am trying to say is this, lets not forget why we endure long hours for little pay and snow and rain make-ups. Stats are well and good , but how do measure the enjoyment that these young women get out of this beautiful game.
