Most good coaches already know the other teams top hitters to begin with.

    Got an Idea!!

Hey....I got an idea. Let's start a seperate thread for girls to post their accolades for the following categories as well:

    Batting Avg.
    Hits
    Doubles
    Triples
    BB's
    RBI's
    Game Winning Hits
    Hits with 2 outs
    Sac Bunts
    Stolen Bases

    For pitchers we could do:

    Wins
    K's
    ERA
    Opp. Bat Avg.

    How 'bout for defense prowess?:

    Fielding pct.
    Assists
    Putouts
    Game saving catches
    Double Plays

My point is, there is more to softball than just focusing on girls that knock one over the fence. No part of the game is more important than another. Just sayin'

Regardless of the risks, I absolutely MUST give props to Meg Everhart, freshman at Ledford, for pitching a 1 hit shutout, getting her first varsity win, AND hitting 2 out of the park tonight in the process! It was quite a performance!

You Know What Is Funny ??

We did this last year and there wasn't one negative comment, maybe because I posted this there is a problem !! But you know what NCROCKS might be onto something. Let's just get rid of all stats !! One question though why have POY,ALL-Conference, ALL-State Players, it all relates .....??? It's just a way of making it more exciting for the kids to show some of their accomplishments !!

in the past, we've had this discussion, and the probem with stats and hs teams is that its all subjective. even though the rules for a hit are quite clear, we have witnessed too many scorekeepers/head coaches who feel that putting the bat on the ball, no matter what the outcome, is therefore a hit, which explains the .800 batting averages reported by some teams.

i'm all for posting accomplishments, like home runs, strikeouts, doubles, triples, throw outs for catchers, stolen bases.....these are things that often are not disputed nor fudged.....but i wouldnt put batting averages up, too much abuse would follow
