tagging high

came up friday and especially tuesday at the ng-sp game. several close plays both at second and at the plate. the ball was there in time for the out but because the fielder tagged high instead of the feet, the runner was safe.

is this a girl thing?

 

Is it a girl thing? I guess that depends on whether the teacher (coach) is male or female.

 

This is one of 2 things I have noticed over the years. Usually though, it seems the umps go ahead and call the runner out anyway. Putting the tag down doesn't seem to come natural, and it needs to be emphasized and drilled. Another thing is running a pickle. I've seen it misplayed over and over even by good teams. I guess they didn't grow up playing pickle in the yard, so that's another thing that requires a lot of practice. I believe these things to be true before I get slammed, haha.

If you knew T.J. Fain this would not surprise you what she did the other night at a game. She was coming into third and the third baseman went to tag her what she did next was T.J. all the way. As the girl went to tag her she leaped over her and dove back to the base after she had landed and was safe. She is one crazy chick........................................
