The pitcher has got only a ball. I've got a bat. So the percentage of weapons is in my favor and I let the fellow with the ball do the fretting.
    -- Hank Aaron

You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the godd*** plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all.
    -- Earl Weaver

During my 18 years I came to bat almost 10,000 times. I struck out about 1,700 times and walked maybe 1,800 times. You figure a ballplayer will average about 500 at bats a season. That means I played seven years without ever hitting the ball.
    -- Mickey Mantle

Sandy's fastball was so fast, some batters would start to swing as he was on his way to the mound.
    -- Jim Murray

I became a good pitcher when I stopped trying to make them miss the ball and started trying to make them hit it.
    -- Sandy Koufax

What does a mama bear on the pill have in common with the World Series? No cubs.
    -- Harry Caray

“Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again. That’s the way life is, with a new game every day, and that’s the way baseball is.” - Bob Feller

I have a local favorite quote.....

Greenville Rose baseball coach Ronald Vincent was talking to a Rose pitcher a couple of years ago after the pitcher had walked a couple of batters on 8 straight balls. When he got to the mound he said: "Son, your problem is that you are having trouble mixing your pitches. How 'bout mixing some strikes in there with those balls". RV then turned and walked back to the dugout.
