    A big showdown in the city Thursday night @ Providence. Coach Bagwell attended the Providence/East Meck game last night as his team got to rest this week for the big game. He got what he wanted in watching Providence get extended with their pitchers into the 8th inning--he was hoping they would go 14!

    The game on Thursday night serves as the example for SW4A rivalries. The teams will get after it and the coaches will play gamesmanship. This series is always the most exciting and entertaining, but this year Providence has the upper hand off the field. They have the "10th man!" Their crowd support will be jumping and yelling rallying their team, while AK's side will be so quiet that you will hear the crickets chirping.

    For a defending championship team to get miserable support from their students is embarrassing. The Providence crowd will simply dominate in their support and, quite frankly, it will carryover to the field. Rivalries are only fun when the school spirit plays a role in the game. In this case, Providence is the overwhelming favorite in a hotly contested series....such a shame that it's so one-sided! Oh well.....here's to another added chapter in a great series.

    since this is a big game for this week, thought i would add. Lake Norman(09 3a State Champs) will be hosting Patton(09 2a State runner up) on Thursday. This should be a great game as both teams have solid records and patton returned most of their players from last year including a couple d1 signees.

    I agree. You may want to start a thread about it. It should be a great game, but I'd like to keep this one about Prov/AK.

    Wow...

    "Double, double toil and trouble;
    Fire burn, and caldron bubble."

    The glove has been thrown (back-side, of course) and Braves is out to make this quite a game come Thursday by stirring the pot. I'm sure that AK will step up and take on the challenge. No dog in this fight, but we have a lot of friends on both sides. Should be good and loud.

    Should be, but the students at AK need direction to Providence. They don't venture outside of Ballentyne.

    It really is a shame because the AK players deserve better.

    So you don't think they'll step up either huh? I agree

    It will be uncomfortable having Providence supporters forced to sit on AK's side because it's the only place they'll find seating or standing

    Well, I've adopted the new Obama's mantra of government business---transparency.....or was that sleight of hand.
