    EM v Providence

What a game at Coach Dave Jones Field. The Eagles persevered to get the win in the bottom of the 8th inning, when Jackson Reisterer hit a walk off single to score Lou Trosch, who led off the inning with a double off the top of the Right Field Wall. The atmosphere was electric all night as the teams battled back and forth. Trosch and Semeinuk gave up a total of 6 hits between them through 6 innings. Both exited the game after 6 with the Eagles up 3-2. The Panthers fought back in the 7th and Jake Fincher singeld in Brett Austin to knot the score at 3. The Eagles third pitcher, the big lefty Jonathan "Jelly" Crews came in to shut down the Panthers in the 8th setting the stage for Reisterer's heroics.

The crowd was great, the weather was perfect, the hotdogs were to die for, and the game had everything a baseball fan could ask for. I know that a certain Angel in the Eagles outfield, Mr. Ed Bryant, was smiling from above as he watched the Eagles take down the Panthers on the field of dreams.

Wow! I can't wait for the Spring Break Showcase!

I believe it's been 6 years since the last time EM beat Providence....and it happened to be when the lights were dedicated to Ed Bryant.

It was a special night for the Eagles in the sense that they learned how to win a big game. Hopefully, they will carry that lesson with them throughout the year. A lot of heroes for EM last night, but one of the underrated one's was the defensive play of David Daniels. For a kid that is not a catcher, he sacrifices personal goals to help the team where they need the help. He responded by throwing out 3 crucial runners.

To me the most telling sign of EM's maturity was after Providence tied the score in the 7th inning. In the past the attitude would have been, "Here we go again...finding a way to lose." Instead they received a fine effort by Crews and timely hits by Trosch and Reisterer to win the game---something that hasn't happened all year. They can build off this terrific win.

If there is a team that has jumped to the forefront as the western team to beat in 4A, it's West Forsyth. I know Coach Pope will love me for saying that, but it's the truth. It's a well balanced club with hitting and pitching.

3/30/2010 - Cuthbertson beats Forest Hills @ FH

    Cuthbertson HS - 1122310
    Forest Hills HS - 0000010

    WP - Cameron Tekker (3-0) - 7IP, 12K's, 4H, 2BB, 0ER

LP - Had 3 pitchers come in for the Yellow Jackets. - 7H, 2K's, 6BB

    Hitting - CHS - JD Long 2-4, Pete Hendel 2-3(Dbl), Preston Morrison 2-4(Dbl), John Mangum 2-3 (2RBI), Andrew Hendel 1 - 3(2RBI)
Forest Hills - Cam Smith 2-4(Dbl).

This was Cuthbertson's second and final conference game with Forest Hills where they took the series 2 - 0. Cameron Tekker really started to take control of the game in the 3rd inning and never let up. The entire team played well with everybody contributing in some form or fashion. A number of sac hits lead to a number of timely RBI's. Once again, good pitching and aggressive base running lead to another solid win for for the Cavaliers.

Cuthbertson Cavaliers have Monroe on Thursday at home and then play in the South Stanly Spring Clash during Spring Break, April 5th - 7th, 2010. Some of the Teams for this tournament are: Mallard Creek, South Stanly, Cox Mill, Piedmont, and the Charlotte Stampede.

Cuthbertson moves to 8-1 in the conference and overall!

This is NOT the official box score.

PD, great job! I'm partial to those lefties coming back from TJ. Glad to see Michael is doing well.
