Does the no Sunday practice rule pertain to my Cardinal team practice with players from my HS?
The way I read the rule,"no practice or play under the auspices of high school sport" pertains to my HS team. It doesn't say come right out and say I can't practice my Cardinal team even with players from my HS team.
I need a little input from someone that understands the rules more than me. I don't want to do anything out of the way that may affect the HS.
I have trouble determining the intent of some of these rules, the way they are written.

My understanding of that rule is a coach cannot coach any player that is on his HS team on Sunday. If your HS players are not involved in or at the practice you can coach the team.

WOW!, Its a crying shame that good folks can't help kids due to the Einstien policy makers. Yep, the same ones that bus a kid 15 miles to a school when she lives two blocks from another....the same idiots who have the audacity to .....wait for it .........change assignment areas that leave one older kid at school A and then the sibling has to go to school B.
.....I've got an idea, why not get all of your kids to come to practice or games during this "period" and spend 10 minutes talking about math or science or history, and then reward them with time on the field!
Its time that we play hardball with these moron rules that stand in the way of developing kids in the name of subjective policy.....all made by folks who couldn't hit a softball if you put it on the Tee for them PPPHHHLLLHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
    Happy Easter!

...the policy makers may be the same umpires who are hired to ump the fastpitch games although they have never even played the game!

Me and you are on the same page. Goes right along with the dead periods. I guess they think it is better for them to be out running the roads or having free time. worst thing a teenager can have is to much free time. I don't think anything you do pretaining to travelball whether it includes your school team girls should be goverened at al by the nchsaa. The dead period in August has always been the one that gets me the worst. School is not even in during half of the period.

They are there to protect the players. But if dont like the rules, then petition to change them.

I guess that is their intent but it backfired. I've been around girls sports for many years and I see and hear many many more girls complaining about their coaches not being able to help them at certain times of the year rather than the opposite. I could go with a rule saying dead periods or Sunday practice can't be mandatory but it definately should be optional for the players. I know there are a lot of coaches who break this rule on dead periods and Sunday practices to help girls full fill their dream of getting better and getting to play more in the summer. To them I say THANK YOU!!

What happens sometimes is coaches from one school working with players from schools other than their own. I've worked with several girls on Sundays and dead periods from other schools and not our own players because of the rules. A lot of the times when our girls ask for extra work you're not allowed to help them.

Even if you don't have a good shot of going far in the playoffs and thus not really concerned about rules so much whatever forfeit you might cause could affect other teams.

There are some pretty good reasons for the rules but they do seem to be too broad.

Who is going to start the petition? Maybe it could be done by email.

What if you sat and watched practice and let the assistants run practice or the parents and you sit in the bleachers? Not sure just throwing the thought out there!!!!
