Now,Now,Now-We all not it is never the players fault, always the coach. How dare you say something like that!

You are probably right since most of what she is recruiting now are D2 players at best. She has really dropped the caliber of players compared to what it has been in the past. I guess that is all that will consider going there now. Once again let the records speak for themselves no conference wins yet and the close games as in last weekend are only because the other SOCON teams are not used to such poor pitching. It's not the players that need to go though, it is the coach. She is entirely responsible for what she has done to a winning program.

They won one year and the school did not pay the coach a competetive salary so she left for an Asst. job. I suppose you have the one and only D1 player?

What's wrong? Your DD not getting what she wants. Don't take away from the players that are playing hard. When players think they can act the way they want, then it's time to send the player.
Coach Hornak and Coach Clift are doing a good job. Did you want Elon to let their coach go the last two or three years?

Thanks, that's all I have to say.

This post never started out to be against the players others have put it there. I have stated before and will again there is some very strong talent on that team, with better direction they could probably win more games. No Tools, and Coach Rich I don't have a DD I am an alumni that just loves the game and loves the school and have followed that program since it's inception and can't stand what has happened to it. Clearly by some previous posts I am not the only one that feels that way. It has never been about the players actually it is for the players so that maybe they can get a coach that they deserve.

When they were at the top they had a stud pitcher who left when the coach left. If you have been around HS softball for awhile, you should know the pitcher I am talking about.

Yes I know exactly who you are referring to and she didn't leave until she spent a year with the new coach and couldn't handle it. After that she requested to be released. That is just one of 24 players that have left the program since the current coach came on board.

"You call this supporting the players"

“Anyone can support a team that is winning - it takes no courage. But to stand behind a team, to defend a team when it is down and really needs you, that takes a lot of courage.”

WCU needs a new coach indeed.

I too have been around the WCU Softball Program since the its beginning in 2006. Its a world of a difference from then to now. There is so much talent on the current team but they need a coach to show the talent I am talking about. We need someone to come in with knowledge in all defensive areas but more importantly hitting.

Whoever said that the recruits brought in recently are D2 material at best I do think you are wrong. Several of these recruits you are talking about had offers to much bigger and much better D1 schools but most of these kids wanted to attend WCU for the school itself and softball just added a plus to attending school at WCU. I will also say that some of these kids are regreting that decision based on nothing but their experiences with softball. This coach is making kids that grew up on the diamond and fell in love with the game we all love HATE IT.

I think as of the past few weeks the potential on this team has shown; and as mentioned earlier they are a couple good pitchers and a hitting coach/head coach away from being an amazing young softball team.

Yes, There is hope for WCU Softball

WCU is going through some very tough times and Yes it has progessively been going in the wrong direction.

There are some things that need attention for sure.

WCU has major obstacles ahead of them. The Hitting is not where it needs to be. One ofthe best hitting teams I have seen in many years of watching Softball is UG.

After talking with the hitting coach for UG this year. I ask Coach Glasgow what do you guys do in recruiting? Go after the best hitters you can find? Coach Glasgows reponse was we Go after the best athletes we can find and we develop the hitting using RVP, "Right View Pro" is a tool that WCU has but it is NOT working. Maybe the IT Dept. could lend a hand with this. WCU also has one of the best, state of the art pitching machines. The Pitching Machine is broken as well. Would anyone like to donate time and or money to help get these valuable tools repaired and working.

UGa films and analyzies every swing. UGa has adopted the linear hitting technique. Two of the premere hitting experts on this technique reside right here in North Carolina, and both have consulted with UGa. I am not saying we need to change to this hitting technique but we do need RVP and the Pitching Machine working.

I honestly think there is hope but without the tools no one can do the job.

There are other issues and often times it does start in the circle. But as it is often said The Best Defense is a Good Offense.

It does matter how good the pitching is. But she will only get 2 - 3 oppertunities per game at best to score a run and I have never seen a team win a game with 0 runs.

If you have I would like to know where it happened.

    We need Hits.
