Just out of curiosity what would or could be the punishment for this type of a rule violation?

Better yet what should be the punishment for someone who would turn in a coach for breaking this rule?

1-- even NCAA has a mandatory day off each week. no reason for hs to skip over that rule, especially when most have to have special permission to play if schools not in session that day.

2 -- if they are breaking this rule then they are more than likely breaking others too.

3 -- any coach that would cut or bench a player in hs for playing another sport should be fired and banned from coaching

4 -- mandatory vs optional. most of the time the players who fail to show for that "optional" practise are punished somehow and thus after that all "optional" practises become "mandatory"

Why would you punish the person who reported it?

Because i applaud anyone who takes time out of their weekend to help the kids achieve what they want. Especially after doing it all week. I guess it would be better to let them be out running the roads looking for something to get in to or sitting home like us typing on the computer. If someone is willing to do that no way should they be punished

I agree with the spirit of central-d's intent.

It is extremely annoying to turn kids down when they ask for help!!!

Plus, I've always been annoyed when all are punished for the sins of the few!

Now this i couldn't agree with more. While i understand the whole "if they are playing ball they aren't into other trouble or "running the roads" " I also believe that if you "help" kids 7 days a week 24 hrs. a day when they DO get out from under it, they have a tendancy to get WAY out from under it, and do even stupider stuff.
Come on guys, even if a kid "wants" to learn all the time they have to also be protected from themselves. No matter how much they "love" the game EVERYONE needs a break. Not only will there be physical burnout but even more deadly is mental burnout.
Went to a Club K clinic awhile back that said every kid should take two months off a year. Now lets look at that, that's 60 days....no ball...no thought of ball....in a year....yea how many of you parents can actually say they LET that happen.
Now i know every kid is not the same, and i wish we had a program that actually cared about the kids and how well we do and taught them, but by the same token how much is that umpteenth state title worth. I know i've never had one so i don't know, but you know what i'm ok with that. I think i would rather have my DD's.
