Why is ASA in NC not as popular in the 10u age group as it is in Ga and sourrounding states? We have played in Ga the last 2 out of 3 weeks and that is all they talk about!!Why do we want other teams coming to our state and try to steal our births to the Nationals when we only have 1 or 2 and they have 6 or 7. We plan to play for a Nationals birth and rep our state and hope other NC teams do also!!!Why doesn't NC register all the rec ball teams in the state to get more births like other states do?I'm not trying to open a can of worms for anyone I just wanted to know ASA is new to our team!

....years back, myself and a couple of dads of kids who could play decided to make a new team within a very prominent team org. Our kids were 12u, we played alot of games with one of the most stacked teams ever. NCASA was not a recognizable option at that time but our headcoach was hell bent on focusing on trying to qualify.
That year, the state tourn. had 3 teams and two of them were not good.
We had to win the state to get to the regional in Atlanta, and then top five had to win again in Atlanta to get to the big dance.

WOW! Awesome experience! The fields were so well maintained, as a matter of fact, the field rep. told us at the coaches meeting that when we left that tourn. that we'd remember those fields and the hard work of Cobb Co......well he was right.

We finish tied for 13th out of 150ish teams and loss to the team that won it all 4-1.

Anyway, I highly reccomend ASA. You have to win and advance.

Oh, and what happened to that team, well, no slander, but the same thing that happens to most teams like that, they split up here and there but all remained cool friends.

    Good luck,

    We are trying

10U, 12U, 14U have been up and down in numbers over the past few years.
Up until about 5 years ago ASA was almost non-existent in NC with any of those age groups.
WFC, IFA, NSA, and all the other options have done a fantastic job with "stuff" that draws the younger kids.
We have offered ball. No gimmicks and no fluff so to speak. There is a push from our tournament directors to draw the younger teams and specificlly 10U.
The National berth is there for the taking every year at the ASA State and the occasional qualifier that we have. Unfortunatley the younger ages are not represented by teams from NC in those age teams for whatever reason. We have found, for the most part, the younger teams don't want to play at venues over 2 hours away from home.
    Please give us try.

.... to the folks who are trying to run orgs. and tourneys, they all have merit and we appreciate them.........and I'd like to point out that without the work of CardBuddy, ASA would still be behind in NC.
His teams have participated in a big way and he saw a need to provide our kids with an awesome opportunity by giving his time, efforts and smarts to make it happen.
    Thanks Rick

We want to play more and will support ASA.I will help in any way my team being a second year 10u.I want the kids on my team to experience the best and remember these things for the rest of there life.We played some of the best teams from Ga,Ala,Miss and Tenn the last 2 out of 3 weeks and out of 16 games we lost 4 to teams that strive and play the Nationals every year.I was pleased to see how we compared to these teams and we are right there.I have all the respect in the world for CardCoach2 and what he has done!!!I will push for more teams that we like playing to play more ASA heck Walnut Creek is the half way point between the Eastern teams in NC and Charlotte.
