Actually, I believe we agree on more than you think, just not the conclusion. I, too, believe the purpose of warmups is just that---to loosen up your arm to be ready to pitch. I haven't been to SM since 2006 when the visitors bullpen was located down the leftfield sideline. Apparently, it has been moved behind the LF fence....not the mounds found behind the RF fence. But assuming the lighting issue affected both sides (I thought Bagwell installed new lights before he left), why is this the 1st time anyone has complained of this issue before? Is this something new?

But getting back to the safety issue, since we agree that warmups is to get your arm loose, why couldn't the pitcher and catcher warmup down the leftfield sideline? There is plenty of room.

Obviously, I wasn't there and you were, but I always wince when a coach gets attacked because usually I find there is more than one side to the issue.

As far as elbow injuries, from what I know about those tears, I doubt Awoods occurred from inadequate warmups.

I'm not trying to minimize your point. I have great respect for your opinion and you were there. But from my experience, when a coach gets called out and I had a chance to talk to them about it, I have found they have a different perspective.

You may be 100% correct. It will be interesting to hear what Coach Tuscan says about it.

Maybe I am Too Close to the Situation...

    Braves

Maybe I am too close to the situation, but this really got to me...

The visitors warmup bullpen is behind the right field fence. (I know this is as far as humanly possible from the visitors dugout and forces the players to walk right past the home team dugout, but I understand that space is limited...) When the boys went down there they came right back because they did not feel they could see well enough to be safe (it may still have been dusk). This is when they stopped in the home bullpen to throw - on the way back to the visitors dugout.

It does look like someone is in the process of building a mound behind the left field fence. (After the sun went down, it was completely dark back there though.)

Regardless, you know our coach has as strong a will to win as any coach you will find. But I know to a certainty that if there was a problem in the visitors bullpen, he would tell the other team to use his until he could get it straightened out as he does not want to see anybody risk injury - our team or the opponent.

I think we would not be above then watching the other teams pitcher very closely while he warms-up to see what he's got....hahaha

    Braves,

What did you think about the new bullpens at DH Conley when you were down over Easter?

Coach, I wish I could have seen them. Can you post a picture of them on here?
Between Coach Mills, Coach Vincent and Diesel, they've given my picture to all the cops in GVegas to have me barred.

By the way, what a game between Conley and Rose. I wish you guys would post the recaps of those games---one of the best showdowns in the state.

But when I do "sneak" into town, I'll make sure I come by and say hello and check out the pens...and some quality baseball.

    Braves,
Here is the link to the newspaper write-up. Rose won 3-2, but great pitching on both sides. A couple errors were the difference.

Thanks eastern. I knew it had to be a close game. These games always are. It looks like the pitchers for both teams did their job, but that wasccally wabbit, Chase McDonald, made the difference.

    Braves,

Was a great game! Chase is a beast. Pitching was excellent on both sides (4 hits and 5 hits given up respectively). Errors will kill you.... just ask Milzy.

    Come see us!
