...I know this is gonna look wierd here but I've gotta give it up to UNC in todays game at Miami.
I was driving home from UVA and listened to the broadcast on the radio.
It rained, rained and rained again.
The umps pulled the players off the field a couple of thimes.
UNC lost a 3 run lead and the game in the 8th on a wild pitch.
Due to airline/travel plans to get back home, the heels were not able to play the 9th.
Who knows what might have happened in that inning.
Also, a piss poor show of sportsmanship occured as the Miami player did an OchoCinco dance and slapped the plate with his hands for the winning run.

Tar Heels have dug themselves a big hole. If the ACC tourney were today, they would not be included.

Heels are 3 games behind State, BC, & Va. Tech & have series left against Clemson, Virginia, Wake, & Va. Tech. They're running out of time.

 

still lots to decide

There's lots of baseball still to be played with 12 more league games. Anything can happen and the 8 teams making the ACC tourn. @ Greensboro may change quite a bit compared to the current standings.

Hoping the Wolfpack can make the Greensboro event this year. Two consecutive years a no-show for the league tourney would not be a very pleasing appearance for the program, IMHO. State's remaining conf. series include BC, GT, FSU, & Duke.

 

The final series against Va. Tech will be crucial. Need to pull closer by then.

 

predictions

I think it's safe at this point for the Heels to concede hosting a regional, agree? For the first time in how many years?

also no regional host for the Pack, I would predict.

I think it's a longshot for either team to get in the NCAA field in 2010.

 

Problem areas.

Team ERA is 6.03. Close to the bottom of the ACC.
Power-hitting is down: Only 9 round-trippers so far compared to Ga. Tech's 41.
League high in walks.
Bullpen has had trouble protecting late leads.

 

State slumping bADLY

oh no.....................swept last weekend at home by a northern school - BC Eagles; now scorched tonight by a fine Elon team.

Not looking good for the Pack. Not good at all. hosting national power GT this weekend.
