    Northwest 18 Kannapolis 4

Northwest had a hot night at the plate tonight. Down 3-4 going into the 3rd. inning, NW goes in front after a 3 run HR by Weston Smith and another 3 run HR by Tanner Black later that same inning. NW would send 16 batters to the plate, scoring 12 all in the 3rd. NW would add three runs as the game was called after the fifth. Rob Bain had another good outing and Kevin Hamilton came in to close out the Wonders.

Ardrey Kell 3-2 over Butler in 10

After their first meeting of the year went 14 innings with Butler coming out on top, tonight the game was settled in "only" 10 innings, this time with AK coming out the winner.

Brandon McWirter started for Butler going 6 1/3 allowed 6 hits and two runs, striking out 5. He pitched his butt off, getting out of trouble multiple times

Ryan Mas through 3 2/3 and was saddled with the loss. allowing 7 hits and 1 run, striking out 4.

Alex Baker started for Ak and went the first 3 allowing 2 runs on 4 hits with 1 K, Baker left with a injury (appeared to be non arm).

Ashton Lover came in relief and went the next 7 allowing 2 hits, striking out 7 to get the win. (Lover threw a "complete game", 7 inning two hitter)

Offensivley for Butler Chase Gehringer, and Cody Lekavich had two hits apiece, while Ryan Hodge and Tommy Hibbard had one. Hodge had both RBI's for Butler.

For AK Alex Leach was 4-5, Bartolomeo, Davies, and Ratlege had two hits apiece and Jack Reinheimer hit a two run homer.

Several fine defensive plays, Hibbard at 3B for Butler, Gehringer in CF, Reinheimer at SS for Kell, and Patterson behind the plate, really stood out with the leather. Butler threw out two potential go ahead runners at the plate, and another ona saftey squeeze.

Score doesnt show how close this game actually was.

Tyler Lewis pitched all 6 innings for LKN was throwing a 2 hitter going into the 6th inning. errors cost LKN from keeping this a close game. as Hopewell bats were shut down. Lewis had around 7 k's 1 walk 6 runs 2 earned gave up 5 hits.

Hunter Conley threw all 7 for Hopewell allowing 3 runs 2 earned 6 k 3 walks. he worked in and out of jams in the 6th and 7th.

    Hopewell
Kyle Himler, Keith Prowse both a hit each and rbi
Justin Hammond and the SS#11(dont no name) had a hit

    Lake Norman
    Ian Edminston base hit rbi
Jack Edminston, Alex Cagide 1 hit each

Hopewell now 6-2 in conference Lake Norman 5-4

Kannapolis pitching allows 15 hits, walk 6, hit 2 and 2 ROE. (Thanks to Coach Hubbard for not allowing more runs to score!) and he's probably thanking Coach T for batting practice! We continue to just leave these kids out "on a island" to fend for themselves and thats not fair to the pitcher or our team. However, the coaches are still thinking playoffs.... don't get me started! Credit to our players they played hard and never quit.

    Eastern Wayne 1 C.B. Aycock 0

    WP: Josh Frederick (2 hits, 10 K's)
    LP: Eric Dubose

Dubose left in the bottom of the sixth with the score tied 0-0, after giving up a single to start the inning. The Aycock relief pitcher then hit 3 consecutive batters to plate the only run of the game. Aycock's 16 game winning streak is snapped & the ECC is now tied at the top: Both Eastern Wayne & Aycock are 7-1 heading into the final week of the regular season. Great complete game effort by Frederick!
