    Hello,

My daughter just completed her freshman year in college and is looking for summer employment. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as we recently moved to NC. We prefer somewhere close to Mebane/Burlington/Durham/Chapel Hill/Greensboro.

She is excellent with children, and she has given pitching and hitting lessons to young children. She is also an excellent photographer and completed a summer internship taking sports action shots. She is obtaining a double major in college with a Business and Marketing degree.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

.....one thing to check out is what NCAA regs might be applicable.

As much BS that comes with intercollegiate athletics and the powers that be, you've gotta atleast figure that they'll have a say in a kid actually trying to make money in the offseason to help her at school!

    WOW!

    Sorry, but its true.

So basically you are saying that if she is receiving an athletic scholarship that she will not be able to work?

    No

She can work all she wants, but maybe not as a softball instructor....

I'm saying she needs to talk with her compliance officer at what ever school she attends to make sure that getting paid for teaching lessons (paid means professional) doesn't effect her amateur standing as a NCAA athlete.

There are certain rules that have to be followed....

Have you ever wondered why the top line pitchers and players at UNC, NCSU, ECU, aren't doing lessons on their own during the summer?

    There is a reason why.....

I know of a DI player in Ohio who gave lessons during the summer.

I guess we will play it safe. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Im just saying

ask your compliance officer.. That's what they get paid for.
if they give you the OK...then it's OK..

Takes the pressure off the student athlete.
