Is often called "Catcher's Indifference," especially in baseball, but I like D.I. better (for one, it's less likely to be confused with "Catcher Interference").

It means that the defense elected not to try to prevent the stolen base, normally due the presence of a runner on third. This could mean either no-throw, or a cut-off play.

No hurry. I'll just go watch a softball game while I wait. Playoffs have started on this side of the border.

    this might clear it up.....

    As related to baseball.

An official scoring judgment in which a runner is not credited with a stolen base because the team playing the field did not try to stop the steal. This typically occurs late in a game when the fielding team is winning.

    softball.... per NCAA rule book....
Not sure what the high school federations do....

    SECTION 15—STOLEN BASE NOT CREDITED
14.15.1 A stolen base is not credited to a runner who advances
to a base with the aid of a safe hit, putout, error, force,
fielder’s choice, illegal pitch, wild pitch, base on balls, hit batter,
    passed ball, interference or obstruction.
14.15.2 A stolen base is not credited to any runner when any
other runner is thrown out on an attempted double or triple
    steal.
    Exceptions:
    1. On a double-steal attempt, with runners at first and third,
an unsuccessful but legitimate attempt was made to put
out the runner stealing second base, and the runner at
third is thrown out at home plate on a continuous play.

    2. With runners at first and third, credit a stolen base to the
runner advancing to second base even if the initial throw
is not to second base. The base runner must show the
    intent to steal.

    3. With runners at first and third, credit a stolen base to the
runner advancing to home plate even if the initial throw
is not to third base. The base runner must show the intent
    to steal.

    4. With runners on first and third, credit a stolen base to the
runner advancing to second base if no throw is made
even if the advance was immediately after a base on
    balls.

14.15.3 A stolen base is not credited to a runner if another
runner is put out in a rundown or an error allows the runner
to be safe. In these cases, the runner not in the rundown who
safely advances does so on a fielder’s choice.

Key is that base runner has shown the intent to steal.

    Finally broken

With 3 stolen bases today Isabella finally broke that record.

She now has 135 on 138 attempts. Not a bad career by any stretch of the imagination. And CD I think she has some good news for you.

Good things happen to good kids!!!!!
Well deserved accomplishment, that has been below the radar until recently.

She has been and will be a great teammate...
Has the greatest nickname I have heard in years.... "Ocean"
You can hit it in the Ocean, but it won't hit the water!!

Don't you just love how aggressive the girls can be stealing bases? This is my daughter, Taylor "Pookie" Faris (4) at the KM and South Point Game.
