Should a Conference just have a Player of The Year Award?

    Should a Conference just have a Player of The Year Award?

    Would a separate Conference Player and Pitcher of the Year be too much?

    its a great idea. the pitcher and player are really 2 different awards. it also helps on the state level. the coaches association seperates both. if the coaches will nominate the players at the district level.

    Why don't they make one player of the year award for every position?

    Some of the effort toward recognition is already done in the form of All-Conference, All-District, All-State, Conference Player of the Year, team awards, etc., etc.

    Personally, I love to see the kids get all the accolades they can get. I also understand that if you give too many awards the awards lose their value.

    Here is a suggestion: Each family picks who they believe is the player of the year, based on their own rules, ranked by age and give them a reward they won't forget. (Hint: it better not be someone from a different family.)

    ....makes sense to me. Then have one overall pitcher and overall player of the year chosen out of that bunch.
