    During all the celebrations, Let's not forget how important a catcher is during a perfect game. Way to go Landon!

    Catching a perfect game

    Dallas Braden of the Oakland A's pitched the 19th perfect game in MLB history on Sunday, but what about the guy catching behind home plate?

    That would be Apex High School product Landon Powell.

    Powell's family was in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina vacationing and watched the game from a sports bar. On a non-NFL Sunday the viewing options can be eclectic, but Powell's parents made sure at least one television was locked on the A's game.

    "There were a bunch of Duke kids there, I guess they just finished exams, they were watching bowling or something," Ron Powell said on 99.9FM The Fan. "When the last out was made, I jumped up and said 'he did it!' Everybody looked at me like I was crazy."

    Not a bad Mother's Day for Kathy Powell, either. The family ordered 3 appetizers and a bunch of wings to make it through all 9 innings, but she admits the food took a backseat in the final moments of the perfect game.

    "I really didn't get nervous until the very last inning for the last 3 outs, I couldn't even eat any more," Powell's mother joked.
