That caught my eye also TJ, I also noticed East Rowan has a tough road ahead of them. They open with Concord (a tough opener) and if they win that game, will surely face Hickory Ridges' "ace" (who open with Harding).

    Handicapping the East:

These teams will be tough to beat:

    1. Rocky Mount (21-2): Pitching has been dominant (Johnson & Moss)
    2. West Brunswick (17-4): Jay Gause on the hill.
    3. Grays Creek (20-2): dominated the Cape Fear!
    4. Wilson Hunt (20-4): has home field advantage against Aycock.
    5. C.B. Aycock (22-4): Must win on the road vs. Hunt but always tough.
    6. West Carteret (17-6): Undefeated in the Coastal!
    7. Eastern Wayne (13-10): won the ECC regular-season!
    8. Hertford County (17-5): Brandon Warren 9-1 on the hill!

Some of these teams will be eliminated pretty quick. Hunt & Aycock play in the 1st round, while Rocky Mount may have to face West Brunswick in the 2nd round. Also, Hertford County would have to face the Aycock-Hunt winner in the 2nd round. Throw in the usual upsets (home teams win about 65% of the time). Some surprise teams are very likely this year.

I only talk names and team strengths/weaknesses during the regular season. Come playoff time, I don't give out scouting reports unless I see $$$ signs. But I will say this about Tuscola, I have them penciled in as playing against Patton in the bottom half of the western bracket,,, with that winner advancing to the best of 3 western finals to face probably East Rowan, unless Wedd or MR pulls the upset.

East Rowan/Weddington in the 3rd round should be a great game.

    Barring Upsets

It appears the better teams are more spread out in the West. East Rowan & Weddington can't tangle until the 3rd round. Enka & Tuscola have to wait until the 3rd round also. Patton & Crest could be another good 3rd round game. Can Charlotte Catholic hang with Marvin Ridge in the 2nd round? From where I'm sitting, I'd pick East Rowan vs. Patton in the western finals. tj, God help the western winner if Rocky Mount makes it to the State Championship. Imagine having to face Johnson in game 1 & Moss in game 2. I'm sure this things not going to go as predicted. They'll be some upsets along the way.

karl, Rocky Mount clearly has great players, and your right the western winner may be "tuckered out" by the time they reach the state finals. Either way, I know you and me going to see some great baseball next couple weeks, aint we? :waving:

    Hard To Predict!

Last year we were all talking about a predicted 2nd round matchup between East Rowan & Ragsdale. Someone forgot to tell Parkland that they were suppose to lose that 1st round game.

    Parkland 6 Ragsdale 2

That right there shows you anythings possible. Teams better not be looking ahead.
