The win totals show that the teams in the bottom half of the bracket have been beating each other up in very challenging conferences, namely I-Meck, NW and MAC.

There aren't very many head-to-head matches to measure but there is the AC Reynolds win over Providence, its one-run loss to North Davidson and the beating by Tabor. You have Watauga dominating Tabor and splitting with North Davidson, which beat up on South Caldwell. And there's Davie winning tight ones over Alexander Central and Mooresville.

Can't wait for May Madness to begin!

    west top

West top = 10 teams with 7 or less losses
West Bottom = 3 teams with 7 or less losses

There are about 7 teams in the top that would beat any team from the bottom.

ND and WF has one of the best 1-2 punches with solid relievers too.
ND Ramsey and Secrest (Tippet Solid Reliever)
WF Currie and Mayhew (Vestal Solid Reliever)

    Good luck to CPC teams

It's not about the number of wins but the quality of the wins. Currie is one of the best in the state but will he get the run support? Among the top teams in the state, WF had one of the weakest schedules, based on Maxpreps, and didn't dominate in its victories, losing to Forsyth Country Day. No question the Hoggard game was a classic, and a game that shows WF can compete with the best, but can it win against the very best? ND learned a lot about itself after the disaster in Salisbury and finished strong - except for the inability to stop WF.

Let's hope the rains hold off so we can find out what these teams are made of.

My thoughts exactly. That's one heck of a first round game. Brock Hudgens shut Southeast Guilford down earlier in the year. I expect Southwest to win but it won't be easy.

How well do you know Hopewell from the bottom? 7 teams i doubt it. Maybe just some overrated teams in the top. 1st round proved the point.

So much for home field advantage

It's amazing that home teams - aka "favorites" - only won half the games.

and check this out - No. 1 seeds were only 3-6...

glad these games aren't played on paper...
